They need to do something. It's ridiculous that recent starters are being offered artifacts they can't use as major prizes in the FA.
I agree. There several smaller cities in both of the FS's I'm in that are expressing this sentiment as they were not around for several of the previous events such as the Phoenix one and Stonehenge ones. This can easily cause issues when doing the FA if they feel like the prizes aren't worth the effort which was one of the biggest complaints in early FA events.

Changes in Beta to Crafting!!
  • Several changes were introduced for the Crafting system in the Magic Academy. These changes align the costs and benefits of certain items and follow player feedback on recipe availability and clutter:
    • Changed recipe timer from 8 hours to 6 hours, reduced Diamond costs for the earlier creation of new recipes from 75 to 50 Diamonds.
    • Several new recipes were added into the Crafting rotation.
      • The following evolving buildings can be crafted for 1200 Spell Fragments and 8 Combining Catalysts if no other instance of the same building is present in either city or inventory:
        • Fire Phoenix (Stage 1)
        • Storm Phoenix (Stage 1)
        • Aureate Phoenix (Stage 1)
        • Stonehenge (Stage 1)

    • Lowered the number of available Pet Food recipes in the recipe pool. This should allow players without pets to craft more meaningful items while players with pets can keep gathering food to activate Pet Food effects for special occasions.
    • Removed recipes for items that were not commonly crafted and/or brought clutter to the recipe list.
      • Summer Flower Cage
      • Arbor of Spring Flowers
      • Leaf Codex

The crafting changes look great. Actual numbers remain to be seen though. There is no mention of military booster changes, so I am very curious to see if removal of excess pet foot and filler recipes will bring frequency of recipes like UUU up. Even a little bit would help enormously.

My only worry is with the relic representation of the pet food. Right now we have 9 options- one for each relic. If the options are decreased, then will we have relics that cannot be consumed by pet food? Hopefully either they kept all 9 options and just reduced their probability, or they simply suppressed the recipes for tier+2 relics (the ones consumed by the combining catalyst).

Aw, not my enemy-constriction trap that I hide about my city for unsuspecting prey! The sparkly organic crap one doesn't count as an imprisoning device, so I guess I'll be using a restoration a chapter to keep my lovely torture chamber pristine. *huffs in despondency*
you are a crafty one, you are!... are you?:rolleyes:;);););):rolleyes:
i shall step carefully i the moon light
... or maybe i will sprinkle magic dust on that dusty carpet i got from that Peep Durple guy!:cool::cool:

I must say that I was waiting for the Phoenix's tail-feathers to be trimmed!
Fire Phoenix was making the Tournaments too easy.
It remains to be seen exactly how few Pet Food they are going to give away in future.
Make as much as you can now, before the upgrade comes through!!

From the Beta thread it looks like only the T3 relic form of pet food can be crafted. That is a 2/3 decrease in the number of options.

Oh Wise One
I can't believe the whiners convinced them to reduce pet food. They should be ashamed of what they've done to people who aren't quite as active as them.

"O, woe is me, I don't get enough options out of the free thing that didn't even exist a few months ago. My life is bereft of all meaning unless I can convince the devs that they ought to ignore everyone but my sad existence."
