Chapter 18 "Team Spirit" discussion

@StinkMan I figured out the working population & culture. One look at the mess my city is in gives away that I put out as many stored buildings as I could. It is kind of disappointing that I'm thinking the further we go the more we will need. BUT I'll have to put away all that stuff I put out to get unu so production will drop. Stinks that I planned ahead and made exactly as much room as I needed but have to start all over storing things. In the spire I feel like I'm at a casino thinking "Come on Teleport! Come to Mama" :p This chapter does look like we will be juggling trying to keep a bunch of balls in the air. Could be interesting. We shall see!

The Unur Museum culture building (unlocked in the fourth column of research) is an unurium producer.
... Since that doesn't come until after all of the unurium-dependent research, not super helpful, I know.

Chapters 19 and 20 will make it a must-have AW, though, as we unlock the rest of the Ascended goods.

Finished Research Trader and checked Italian list. My next quest is #15 Accept 6 offers. I am thinking #14 was replaced with Research Trader.

For a long time the accepted wisdom has been that doing chapters 16 and 17 hurt tournament and spire performance. The common practice for die hard tournament players has been to stop after either getting the final Frog promotion in chapter 15 or to continue to the beginning of chapter 16 before stopping to unlock ch 16 magic residences and workshops. Looking through the tech advances in chapter 18, I see 3 new unit promotions and upgrades to all 3 military facilities. Do you think this is enough to help restore balance and make it worthwhile to advance again?

No. I don't believe for a moment it will restore balance. If you only do the required techs and nothing more, the troops you bring to battle will grow by 17%. It would be hard to not do more than just the techs. But it's even harder to imagine the new troops will make up for that 17%. Even if it does, that doesn't restore balance. It would just keep the status quo.

Regardless, I don't see the purpose of playing this game if you don't do the chapters, so I'll proceed and not do as well in the tourneys.

For some reason, the forum said I didn't exist and made me recreate my login. So, new member is not quite accurate, but I am not a regular poster.

In my world, the people that absolutely dominate the Tourney (our FS all do spire to top) have done the later chapters, built and levelled AW's, all of which hurt you in the formula for tourney. I think all of the subtle interdependencies make continuing the chapters only a slight negative at worst.

I think there are ways to get around the understandable desire to not have only long time players able to finish high in tourneys. This Chapter has made me rip apart a lot of my city and park some excellent culture and culture/pop buildings to build Moonstone sets (heavy on mana plants). I think that the game now requires you to overwork your crafting to thrive. So extra CC and spell fragments and time instants let you run that thing extra hard. It will be interesting to see if mana or unurium or the merchant will be the limiting factor for progressing.

It is interesting. I wonder how new players are going to deal with the chapter crafting requirements having access to only one moonstone set. Maybe some awesome new buildings for frags and ccs are on the way.

Does anyone know how many relics are needed for the Ascended Good Production Boost?

(I've been using my marble relics to make lots of Combining Catalysts, and have become quite low. Apparently too low for a production boost for my Marble Manufactory that makes my ascended goods.)

Here is a screen shot of my relics window. Maybe my problem is not enough marble relics.
What will unlock the "Ascended Goods Production Boost"? I don't see anything in the tech tree.

The research for the boost names your specific production in the title.
