Prepping for Tournament changes:

Since the devs have said they are removing guest race goods from OSSTs (Optional Squad Size Techs) if you actually have the guest race goods for a tech, you might want to fill them with KP now, so you can complete them before the switch when it's announced, rather than having those goods sit around for no reason later.

I still don't get the enthusiasm about activating optional SSUs, especially rushing it now. This is one of the actions that you cannot undo. Imagine if they revert something to a stage where optional SSUs are detrimental again. Or, you know, never push this feature to live the way it is.

For the tiny benefit that I'll get from increased regular SS the way it currently is on beta, it's not worth it to me. Perhaps you guys expect to derive more benefit from it (higher AW levels, more useful Barracks units, no Brown Bears)?

I'm not suggesting people complete the techs. I'm suggesting that if they have guest race goods stockpiled for a tech, they may want to fill it with KP, so that if it is announced as coming to live, and they decide to take them, they don't have wasted guest race goods while having to use something else instead. KP are pretty cheap for most of the people who are skipping the techs.

I understand what you're saying, and my post was not pointed directly at you. I see a lot of people here, on beta and elsewhere who all of a sudden are very interested/concerned about optional SSUs that they didn't take. To me, that's just noise. These are one time costs, and from the earlier chapters, so whatever these would be this would be cheap regardless. Cheap KPs won't be so cheap anymore in the new setup. So focusing on things like optimizing stored old GR goods vs some regular goods for one-time application with very limited benefits, when there are massive and still underdefined recurring changes that will have much, much higher impact (e.g. tournaments) sounds like focusing on fairly unimportant things.

If I wanted to micromanage this process, I'd rather invest those KPs into my Martial Monastery. In all likelihood, it would be better bang for my buck if tournament KP nerf materializes the way it is proposed.

Here is a little update on how my chapter 4 Beta city did with the new tournament system. I completed 5 stars in all 8 elixir provinces I had available for 1680 points. All but two encounters I won by autofighting, with zero items boosting my attack power or health. Only the 5th stars of 7th and 8th provinces did I lose and have to cater instead. So if you are not trying to go deep into the provinces, and you have at least 8 provinces of each goods type open, getting 1600 points a week will be easy. The primary thing you will have to be sure of is having enough troops or goods to complete these every week.

But how many KPs is that? ;)

49 compared to spending just 2 days on the tournament going 25x2* for 98 KP. (and only using 1 pet food)

Stop thinking like an endgame, entitled player and adjust with the changes to the game. I am not trying to play my Beta city the way I have played my Live city, and that includes not rushing through things or stressing about it taking a few extra days to get the KP for a research or whatever.

The potential number of KP is irrelevant, since I only have 8 provinces open. And when the next elixir tournament comes around, I might have 11 or 12 by then.

And no pet food. I said I had no boosts, and nothing to boost. And if it weren't for the troop instants from the event running on Beta, I would not have had the troops for all those fights, even as easy as they were, because I would not have had five full squads for some of them, so more catering would have been done for the same score.

I won't unlock it untill it's final :)

I think it will get more players interested in tournaments and get them past the Orc-hump, so strikes me as a pretty good trade-off for those of us with 49 open provinces losing an extra 50 KP we could get without breaking a sweat.

Any information on being manually able to fight on mobile (which is my only choice at the moment)? If they are changing the turnys to have more random enemies than I would guess that auto fight is going to be a lot more of a mess than it is now. As is i have a hard enough time contributing to my fellowship now during the turnys. I was lucky enough to get into a fellowship that does 10 chest rounds so I bought 4 magic workshops because I'v been getting blueprints every week. I am able to get 1,000 points on average but on auto fight if there's more than 2 types of enemies I am unable to go any farther. My fear is not being able to auto fight enough to earn my place in the fellowship and then loose the ability to upgrade the premium buildings (without spending even more money) I just purchased, lol.

Thanks for any information.

Not going to happen any time soon.

EDIT: source here https://beta.forum.elvenar.com/inde...urnament-changes-pre-release.15182/post-87251

Given the usual level of vagueness about development ("we may or may not be working on this or that"), having such a definitive statement likely means that there is absolutely no chance of that happening in any reasonable timeframe.

If a player uses the troop instants a lot then the optional SSU's would help quite a bit. It would also boost the output of some of the military AWs.

The fact that people are concerned about this doesn't mean they're gonna rush to unlock them ASAP. People are thinking of unlocking them just as people like you are planning how to adjust to the new difficulty system - nothing wrong with planning and thinking ahead.

I don't think one can use a lot of troop instants simply because you only get these from events, and these are not huge amounts. More importantly, just like with AWs these are all barracks troops, which - to me - are very low value except for Golems. Everything else is better handled by specialists. These are also not entirely free either - you use either KPs for AW leveling or event currency for troop instants, and both these resources could be spent on something else.

But you are spending event currency on a chest. Normally the chest has a chance of multiple things, plus the daily exclusive. You are not just spending event currency to directly buy troop instants, RNG plays a part. I also think it depends on what level you are at. I am at Faeries. And I started in the game late enough that I missed the Brown Bear. So I do not have the troop generation capacity which truly advanced players do. The troop instants I have won in May Celebrations and Air Traders have been very useful. I try to ration them out and use them only in important situations. So far I have been successful in this. Have not run out of them yet. Hopefully this will continue until the new event hits the live worlds and I can win new ones.

First of all: rude.
Secondly, anyone past woodelves can do 25 provinces in the tournament, and that's not even mid-game let alone end-game.
Third: Why do you think a player in chapter 4 (which is basically still the tutorial) has a more important opinion than any other player?
Finally: this is a discussion about Beta and changes that are yet to be implemented, meaning we are attempting to adjust those changes not adjust to them. Otherwise, it would just be an announcement with no need for feedback.
-----------------------------------------------------------

There seems to be a wide range of what players and the developers consider "hardcore" .
I, for example, consider a player who did 8 provinces 5 times to be WAY more hardcore than one who did 25 provinces twice because they are playing and doing the tournament every. single. day.
This is something I hope we've mentioned enough in this feedback since @Marindor first mentioned 25 players doing 6x6*
