The OP just wanted the fellowship to keep the rewards from an unhappy player. In the end, keeping unhappy players does not help anyone, and a fellowship is better off without them. Why create a toxic environment in a fellowship where a person wants to leave but is chained there? He or she could actually turn off other members with his/her discontent, and then you could have bigger problems than just one player leaving. Better to cut off a finger than to let the cancer spread, so to speak. (Not that I'm dissing anyone, even the malcontent who may have any number of reasons for leaving.)
