Given an approximately diamond-shaped city, anything that uses screen real-estate in the center of an edge reduces available viewing of the buildings. Other than the identity badge at top left, every normal control access (and chat) is exactly placed to reduce the view of the buildings and increase the need for movement of the view-window.
Moving overlay controls and windows to the corners would provide a discernible improvement in view, and play-ability. Chat to top-right, Quest givers to bottom left, Tool bar to bottom right (or even just moving the sell/move buttons onto the same row as the other controls) would all increse the cities visibility.
