I filled a ticket and was given the choice of the last event building or the largest prize on the most expensive chest as compensation. I thought it was fair as I missed out on getting enough snowflakes for one more chest to open because it expired early. Note that when i filled out my ticket I included a screenshot showing that it had expired with multiple hours left. You might still see if you can file one shimmerfly - nothing to lose by trying except perhaps a few minutes of your time.
