HTML5 IS ON ITS WAY!
The first testing of HTML5 to replace the crash-prone Adobe FlashPlayer has started in Beta World!
Chrome browsers only, for now.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Humans and Elves,

It is time. While Flash has made the internet a better and more friendly place, and allowed us to make Elvenar possible, the authors OF Adobe's Flash Player have decided to stop supporting it by the end of 2020. This means that in order to make Elvenar playable beyond that point, we need to move away from the Flash technology. To achieve that, we are creating a Flash-free version of the game, using the HTML5 technology.

Today, we are proudly presenting the first Beta version of Elvenar running fully using HTML5, without any Flash content. While this is Beta, we believe that the quality is now high enough to share it with you, our Beta community, and we want to ask for your feedback. We aim to iron out any bugs and polish the HTML5 version to be at least as good and smooth as the current Flash client.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLASH AND HTML5 ?
The main and most important difference is that Flash Player is a plugin for your browser that is required for you to run the game. If it was not installed and enabled, the game simply wouldn't launch. By moving to HTML5, we are able to run the game directly in the browser, with the natively supported technology.

WHAT NOW?
Now is the time that we ask you to provide your feedback on the new HTML5 client. Of course, we are also encouraging you to make us aware of any and all problems that you notice while playing the game. As with all bugs, we are rewarding Diamonds for every newly found, valid bug report that is reported in our forum's Bug report section.

HOW DO I PLAY ELVENAR USING THE HTML5 VERSION NOW ?
First of all, we need to mention that the first Beta version is currently only playable with the Google Chrome browser. The reason for that is that HTML5 is basically handled differently from browser to browser.

Don't worry if you prefer using another browser: we decided to make it available on one well-known browser first, so that we can already start gathering your feedback. All the other major browsers will of course be supported in the future. As we cover more browsers, we will also continue improving performance on those we already support.

As of now, every Beta player can switch the game to the HTML5 version by going to Settings and enabling it manually. You can do this via the following setting in the ingame settings window you can find via menu at the bottom right of the game:

The game will then be reloaded and from that point on you will be using the Flash-free HTML5 client. This will be represented by a small badge in the corner of your screen:

This badge is of course only shown temporarily, until the full release of the new client. It is simply there to make it easy to recognize which of the clients you are using: the one using Flash, or HTML5.

Naturally, we are not forcing anything on you - you can switch back to Flash any time you wish during the Beta phase. We are steadily moving forward with the release of the HTML5 client, but we will not be rushing it. We have enough time to adapt our game to the new standards, while also having the possibility to take in your feedback and use it to help us improve the game and its performance.

We are convinced that with your help, we will make Elvenar playable for years to come!

Let's make Elvenar an awesome HTML5-based game together! :)

As said, should you find any bugs or errors, please report them via the bug report section. https://beta.forum.elvenar.com/index.php?forums/report-a-bug.28/

It would also be incredibly helpful if you could clearly state whether you enabled HTML5 or not and if you'd provide screenshots when you encounter any problem.
NOTE: Making these is very easy with HTML5 in Chrome: just right click in the game and choose "Save image as...").

Thank you so much for your help! We're looking forward to discussing these changes with you, as well as hearing your feedback. Please share your thoughts by posting in the discussion thread!

InnoGames have started testing HTML5 in Beta World, with the view to its eventually replacing FlashPlayer entirely. The big browser programs will be discontinuing Flash support within a year or so – so this is a forced change. This should eventually be a positive step, because FlashPlayer has a habit of crashing our games far too often.

Here is a short video explaining the change:

Note:
The quests that we saw in Beta will not necessarily be the same as the ones that come to the Live World.

Please feel free to share this Note with your friends.

All suggestions and corrections are most welcome!!
:)

There will be a companion video to follow tomorrow - the one I made today had a broken sound track

Yes Sir. I really love the idea and direction they've gone with this new styled Event.

Won't talk about the set buildings, daily buildings or the grand prizes... cause... going to keep this positive :p

I hope everyone enjoys the splendors of such a Event. Everyone has different wants & needs, that this one sure does help fulfill

In all previous events I've overcome the RNG by blasting through a significant number of quests the first day. This ensured that I would have lots of event currency for tries at the few prizes that I wanted. Having no spoiler list of prizes this time, I figured I'd go for the set, but completely whiffed on the chests on day 2(first set building), getting a solid dose RNG, and it tasted bad.

It's possible that the new quest/chest system will still yield the sort of results that I have gotten used to though, so I have some hope.

My limited first impression is they got tired of us planning over spending and shifted the odds back in favor of the house so to speak... No list and the possibility of a bad chest draw in addition to the chest roll itself. Seems way more casino.
Are more or less chest better or worse than the old ones?
Has anyone figured out the pattern/odds of which chests happen?
Can those odds then be compared to the old 3 chest?
Have they actually made it so random that we can't math it?

I don't think its quite as devious/insidious as "let's find a way to make daily prizes harder, because that means more diamonds spent." I read it to be more a little bit of 2 things:
1. Having better control over the non-building prizes. Being able to prioritize time instants vs supply instants vs extra tickets is nice.
2. Making it a little harder for players to win 10+ of any daily building. As someone who has trivialized the "mana mini-game" by winning 16 Frozen Fountains during the Winter Event and 10+ Burning Pools during the Phoenix Event, I can see why developers would want to make it harder (or even just reduce the certainty) of a player base getting a ton of a certain kind of building. If you know that someone won't get 10x of a building, then you can allow that building to be a little stronger.

This is directed more generally, but are people planning a few "likely quests" based on past events for the mainline quests? Like, I'm going to keep a few provinces open, but I'm curious if I should take it one step further and pre-build some non-boosted Tier 1s, or some level 3 buildings to upgrade to level 4, or a level 12 residence, etc. Just on the assumption that eventually those quests will roll around.

Or, since there isn't the sequential quest list available a week early, will maybe Inno scale back on the quests that, if you haven't prepped for, you're basically screwed out of 3-4 days of playtime trying to complete?

I don't think it's needed. I always have a slightly underleveled armory for the level 12+ upgrade quests, and I'm sitting on over 100 small timers I can use for 4 buildings to 5+ quests if I'm impatient.
Plus since you have 24h per quest the only challenge would be a scout, and even if that takes 3 days, the quests stacking up behind it will likely be quick, and you could take that time to prep for them.

In essence if a second questline doesn't appear at some point, this event runs itself and you can complete it by reacting rather than having any plan or strategy, which some players may enjoy, but takes a lot of the fun out of the game for players like me who actually enjoy planning ahead.

It would be nice if the prizes that give goods could be changed up sometimes, instead of being locked into the 1 good every single time. How many :elixir: bonuses does one city need anyway? ( :gem: -boosted)

I'm banking on a second questline. It seems almost impossible that they'd go through all this effort for a single daily questline with quests as basic as "collect some marble."
