I’ve been experiencing this for quite sometime, randomly when I’m moving around my city I get a black screen and need to restart the game to fix it. I play on an iPad, everything is up to date.

I also play on iPad, and get that when I have too many apps open, or need to reboot it (which shuffles and cleans up fragmented memory). Try powering it all the way off and then reopening. It's an our hardware vs. a big chonky app that shuffles modules around kind of thing.
