The problem is all the people before who have not read the details that you have. Also, don't ever join the Elvenar Facebook groups if you want to avoid people asking questions about the most obvious things that are answered by reading what is provided in-game. It might be that the info is not presented as well in the app version and that is confusing more people too.
And yeah, some non-official sources do get the information worded wrong, I guess is the best way to put it.
And with most items in the game, Inno had to make it extra confusing by including the starting amount as the first 100% of what a bonus might be. Look at the Mountain Halls, as we have talked about. At 1st level it says boosted goods production 124%, but that is really a 24% boost/bonus, because the first 100% is your base production. I think all the AWs are worded this way, as well as the temp military buildings, and some other stuff. But then there are things like your relic boost. When it says 700%, it really means a full 700%, as this is not one of the situations where the first 100% is your base.
Yeah, the 100% base is misleading, mostly, I think, because they combine it with the use of "bonus." Saying, for example, 124% bonus when the
bonus part it only 24, not 124. I think this is a language issue, not a misunderstanding (or misrepresentation) of how percentages work, but it causes a lot of misunderstanding for the reasons already cited. I don't know anything about translation, but I wonder if this is a translation type error that was overlooked. Maybe the issue has been written off as a numbers misunderstanding, when the problem is actually language so it could be amended very easily when recognized as such (thus, avoiding so many misunderstandings and hurt feelings).
And, when it comes to Elvenar and Facebook, my experience there was not good. I had been here for awhile and I got curious so I "liked" and "joined" a few. There's probably some helpful information there, somewhere, but I mostly saw unconstructive criticism, lots of whining and complaining and spread of misinformation as fact (and lots of the complaining based on misinformation). I knew what was what because I am plugged in here and with others in-game who know how this stuff actually works. I read, listen, and am not afraid to ask questions. If I didn't know better, if I wasn't here (etc), I might have been one of those misled and so seeing the spread of misinformation and it's destructive power really triggers me. I walked away and didn't look back. I continue to keep an eye on the game/wiki/forum and really value the legitimate outside resources like ElvenArchitect, ElvenStats, and ElvenGems (while recognizing and taking into account all appropriate disclaimers). Yeah, there are complainers, soapboxes, and drama here, but the information is constructive and legit. Those poor ignorant players on Facebook really should be here. They could learn a few things about how it works and answers to some of their complaints. It is easy to yell into another room about what should and shouldn't be done, but if they came here, they would see what is being done, what has been done, and why some things are and aren't done the way they are. Maybe people like that aren't looking for a solution, or they simply don't know about this (yes, the game encourages joining the Forum, but some don't realize what they are missing). The passionate spread of misinformation by the ignorant who don't know enough to know it is incorrect is so damaging to themselves, other players, and ultimately the game. Facebook has its place, Inno was good to advertise there, and it is appropriate for them to have their own official FB page, but the rest is the unfortunate side effect of the Internet...
