I have heard from many people that they want so see more group actions in this game. And I am no exception. So here is my idea that I believe could improve the game, give the players what they want, but at the same time keep the positive and friendly gaming environment.

5 to 10 people who are close on the map can form clans and they will have to solve encounters together.

Instead of having 8 encounters like we have now, there can be an additional 9th encounter that will be much more difficult to solve. This 9th encounter would NOT effect the individual progress in discovering provinces( a player who has completed the 8 individual encounters will still get the opportunity to move to the adjacent province and it ill be counted towards the expansion requirements).

Clans will have to solve this 9th encounter after all the members of the clan have scouted that province.

The encounter can be solved by negotiation or fighting. But instead of having one battle or one offer for negotiation there will be multiple.

NOTE: Those encounters are not meant to be resolved in a day or two. They are meant to be a challenge.

So, for example here is how I imagine it:

10 x 5 + 10 x (#players - 5)/2 = total number of battles or negotiation offers
A clan of 5 players will have 50 battles or negotiation offers. But a clan of 10 people will have 75.

WHY? Because if 10 players have 100 encounters there will be incentive for forming smaller clans (5 member clans) due to the requirement that every member has to had scouted that province. With the reducing number of battles or negotiation offers, players do not have the incentive to form smaller clans.

Successfully resolved encounter will result in 5 relics (according to the type of province) and a especial reward for every member in the clan. For example, boosted coin production for 2 days, boosted supplies production for 1 day, instant 1000 planks, etc...

What do you think? :D

Like where this is going, thou id change it to a guild style instead of just neighbours near you.

They could add challanges such as a orc hold you need to clear out in stages ect, and have said orcs retaliate now and then for those guilds that decide to take up this challenge. (leave it optional as a lot on the beta forums have expressed no interest in being attacked in thier citys. So youd basically have to attack and defend (possible aided by your guild mates in the defend part).

Good start to a non pvp idea and more a player with player vs enviroment idea. :) Player interaction is important in these games.

I really like the idea - localization would be a great start to building teamwork and community on the local level beyond simply neighborly help.

This look cool but what if your neighbours dont play and you have inactive around? In this point something need to be changed but i like it ;)

I've also proposed Regional Parks, whereby the folks who have gathered all of the relics in a sector would be able to contribute UNresourced Relics for the common good.

Nothing major - A few picnic tables and some hiking trails, and the participants would earn themselves a few culture points, based on the development of the Regional Parks in their area.

This approach may be "how" to accomplish what you're looking for, it would give us a reason to revisit nearby sectors, and it would enhance the value of the unresourced Relics, which currently serve no purpose.

A very good idea. +1. ( :p) Please keep your thinking hat on and if you get more ideas like that, share.

Katwijk, Regional Parks sound like an interesting way to help build the neighbors in the local area into a group.
maybe even be able to post a message there for the additional 9th encounter that was in the first post here.
Maybe a Group Hall that all the Neighbors in the area can put resources into, giving it more levels,
with each level giving some type of bonus for each player that helped with it.
[not sure how difficult that would be to code, since the game would have to keep track of all the players that added resources to the Hall]

Once Relics had been donated, the Regional Park would benefit EVERYBODY in the neighborhood, whether they helped or not.
No record keeping is needed, other than the size of each Regional Park.

Fighting Blackberry Bushes would be challenge enough, if my memory serves me correctly. :p
