Converting runes for one aw to another one or for a broken shard

I am at the stage where I very rarely complete a province so I rarely have a chance to get new runes. When I do finally achieve this I am so disappointed that all I get is another rune for an aw I have and nothing for the newest ones I have just researched. I face the prospect of spending a fortune in diamonds to buy the runes, which I will not do as I cannot afford it or never gain the new aw that I would really like to have.

I was wondering if there could be some way where I can trade in some runes I already have for either a rune for a different aw or for a broken rune? I would be willing to sacrifice some runes I already have for a chance to get the new aw rune. I never seem to find them on the map. it takes me nearly 3 days to scout a province and I complete it so quickly only to get yet another rune for the lighthouse which was my first aw. I have 72 now and that is after having spent 35 going through level 6 when I had to insert the runes a second time. I know I need all these runes but it is quite disheartening to never be able to get the magical new aw that is so enchanting.

Could the developers think about this problem? Please? I have just researched the magical woodelf aw's but tragically the only rune I got from the province I completed after that was for the tome of secrets which was quite disheartening. I know of only one person who has these aw's and I know she spent a lot of diamonds to build them. I feel that unless some changes are made then that will be the only way to get them.
 
There are many suggestions for this problem on the forum.
For now there is no solution yet. Or no real one.
The only thing you can do is use the runes for wonders you dont want to build them anyway, then tear them down again. That way you can fill the ring again and hopefully break a lot of runes so you can use the shards to form a rune you do need.

But like I said, this subject has come up lots of times, so the only comfort is that you're not alone in that frustration
 
I had thought of that. Unfortunately the two aw's that have the most runes are ones I want and have built them past level 6. I suppose I will just keep trying. I saw a thread suggesting that we be allowed to trade with other players but that would not help me as everyone I know is in the same situation as me. The only runes we would have for trade would not be wanted by anyone. I suppose my only chance is to wait for a new event and hope they give out lots of runes.
 
Being able to open up more Provinces (or *not*) seems to be a sticking point for me as well - not just for Runes either (but that's another kettle of fish...). What does one do with the Broken Runes anyway? I'm not 100% on Ancient Wonders/Runes - but I'm getting closer and closer to needing to know/plan ahead....

When you try and place a rune in one of your ancient wonders sometimes they break, the broken rune shards go to the right of the screen to fill the broken shard line.. Once you get 9 broken shards in the line you can make any rune you need that is guaranteed to fit into any wonder.. You have to be on the wonder you want the rune in when you forge the rune
 
Broken runes are the best thing I have. Most of my favourite aw's have been built thanks to broken runes. I am currently just one away from forging another and I have so many aw's all wanting it. Most of my runes now come from events and tournaments. There are two ways to uses runes stored for built aw's and that is to upgrade them to the point where you have to insert another round of runes and then you gets lots of broken ones you can use to forge the runes you want for other aw's or to sell an aw and that means you start from scratch at inserting the runes in the ring and you rely on broken ones to give you the runes you need. I have upgraded 4 now to level 6 and gained runes that way for other ones. I have not yet decided if I will sell the only one I have built that I do not particularly want. I suppose I should try and upgrade the ones I have the most runes for until they reach the next stage where I must apply runes again. That will take a while as it is a lot of kp's and there is a new chapter coming. I have one aw I have not built yet as I have no space and that is still building up runes. The only runes I cannot find are the newest aw's from the orcs and woodelves. I suppose I should just be patient and I will find them in time.
 
Cool information - than you very much for the replies and information! I do hope something is done to help those folks who seem to be having problems with their runes.
 
It occurs to me that a RUNE CONVERSION Ancient Wonder would be pretty popular.
  • You'd be able to build/upgrade it (levels 6-11-16) with any combination of Runes from other Ancient Wonders.
  • As part of the upgrade process, the owner could specify WHICH Runes the AW would reward when the current level is completed, some for the OWNER and some for the contributors.
