Wow, I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the three bonus winners for a Gravity Inn! I truly appreciate the opportunity to participate, and am happy my entries were all considered valid (especially my third one, which was delayed). ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???!!! ok ok ok ok...as i TRY 2 calm down, a majority of the winners of either the Gravity Inns or the diamonds were legitimately creative, high quality, decently thought out entries. HOWEVER...
FIRST of all...A RECIPE???!!! fine, ok, whatever, i get it; there's a nice little (very) short story to go along w/it that's elvenar-themed. but HOW do we even know the pie/cake thing was even made??? there's NO picture of it, n weren't we supposed to provide PROOF something was made?? n even then, anyone could "say" they baked/cooked something n write several lines tying it to elvenar...how is that special/unique???
SECOND...EVEN THE MEMBER HIMSELF said his entry was "a very quick, crappy colored sketch". so either his/her kid did it (which is my guess), or an adult did (which is even worse)...HOW is something THAT low-quality deserving of 1 of the grand prizes vs NUMEROUS other entries that were of MUCH higher quality...SERIOUSLY???!!!
THIRD...EIGHT LINES OF TEXT...EIGHT!! is deserving of a grand prize?? WTF man!! what did that take, all of about FIVE MINUTES to come up with??
(@matman1122 that was really ingenious, n promotes the game...helluva job)
NOW...as for the diamond winners, as i mentioned earlier, a majority were deserving winners, BUT...
1) @RenegadeFLA ok, i love the pic, n quality of the components in it...but WHAT did he/she ACTUALLY create??? print out a picture w/text on it, n tape it to a jug they already had?? it's not like they "MADE" the jugs or chest...so that took what, about 2 minutes? (n i don't see a name on it...)
2) @Mariebee AGAIN, something that was either drawn by a kid, or if an adult did it, is really crappy quality...a low-quality chalk drawing that looks like it was done by a grade-schooler???
3) @Pheryll sell or teleport some buildings in order to make room to write out "happy b-day" in open space in his/her city...WHAT WAS ACTUALLY MADE/CREATED??!! n which of us couldnt've done the same thing, n probably took all of about 5 minutes...so where's the originality/creativity??? whoop-dee-doo!!
(@Ginjerblu OMG!!! HOW was this NOT the overall grand prize contest winner??!! GORGEOUS, EXREMELY high-quality, n obviously took HOURS to do, not to mention the cost...though there is no reference to elvenar's birthday, or name in the pic; so maybe that's why)

(@SALS KEEP nice touch w/the orc heads in the cupcakes, but orcs and...sweets? not bbq/meat? maybe fairies/elves/halflings n cupcakes)
(@Maavra again, AWESOME drawing, LUV how u used a bunch of diff buildings as decorations, n must've taken FOREVER!)
now i'm sure to most that take the time to read this, it sounds like i'm a whiny spoiled-sport crying over spilled milk, but ask yourselves this first...from the beginning, did i or did i not say a majority were deserving, give credit where credit was due, n explain my rationale? n i KNOW there are others out there like myself who feel the same way, but either don't wanna offend anyone at inno, or don't feel slighted as much.
n while i only looked thru the entries of those who won prizes, i'm sure there are a number of other entries that were more deserving than the ones i called out (yes, obviously i consider mine one of them, otherwise i wouldn't be on this rant, n probably quite a few better than mine)...so this post isn't just for me to vent, it's in defense of everyone who submitted better entries than several of those that won, but didn't get rewarded for their ingenuity, efforts, n time.
i'm sorry @Nightguest , i know it was probably a seemingly impossible task to sort thru n choose winners from 123 entries, but there were only 123; not like it was several hundred, or over a thousand. n i know u had a lotta crap going on behind-the-scenes irl, n for that i am truly sorry, n hope everything is better now. but like u said, i know this is an escape 4 u, n u truly enjoy n luv what u do w/regards 2 this game, which is truly appreciated. but it's a slight to those of us that spent hours coming up w/creative, intuitive, n appropriately themed entries to be passed over for those that clearly put very little thought, time, or effort into theirs, n yet are rewarded over those more deserving.
i'm also pretty sure i'm alienating myself from ever being considered for another contest ever again, but this is something i've been holding in for a week, n it's been eating at me the entire time, not going away, n had to get out of my system. n for the silent majority that feel the same way, i hope my thoughts n words are considered when choosing winners for the next contest. take care, keep up the good work, n above all stay true to yourself.

In all fairness, the third round could have been decided by random drawing. There was nothing in the contest description to say that the entries for the third round would be evaluated based on effort. One entry contained nothing more than a single character of text. I know you called me out, but I didn't even know that this round would be decided based upon perceived effort.

And as for creativity....well I didn't see any of your original recipes posted, pictures or not. AND how many of the recipes that were posted (there were several) had stories to go along with them? Elvenar stories?
Thus, the "creativity" displayed was in two forms. Recipe (original) and story (original). Now I'll admit that the level of inspiration you, as the observer, see in a creative work may not be as much as I, or others see. Like beauty, perhaps. creativity is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm pretty sure it said on the main page of the contest that winners would be selected randomly from the list of players who played all 3 rounds and got the second answer correct. I almost wrote a b-day poem instead of attempting to create a party-scene, as I knew my computer skills wouldn't do my vision justice...but an effort was made and that felt right to me. So I'm relieved I didn't have to go up against artists and writers and graphic designers to be considered for a prize...

The mods are volunteers, not paid employees, so only 123 entries is plenty. More cooling down is in order.
They were, see above. Not just the third, all prizes were a raffle. Could be worse. They used to have people vote on contest One of the first contests I recall was for a new holiday, and a put a few hours into a story about the discovery of the first divine seeds and lost to a block of votes from people who never visited the forums...

first of all, i don't bake...2nd, no, y would i post a recipe when i don't bake? n i already said i didn't look thru all the entries, just the winners, so i have no idea how many recipes there were, or stories. n as far as creativity, my whole point was that winning entries should've been based on artistic merit n visual quality...that kinda WAS the whole point of the contest from the description, which asks that u send in "an image where the user name is visible"...IMAGE
