Enemy troop upgrades with the release of chapter 15

Holy Hit Me In the Mouth, Batman --

The 2 upgraded enemy units i have run across recently (at least noticeably) have been the frog prince (fainant frog 3 star) and forest warden (ranger 3 star). I haven't seen any others yet, unless some of the mage types got some upgrades that I simply haven't paid that much attention to as yet.

Both of these upgraded units have now come in some meaningful density / frequency in the last 2 tourneys to show me some pretty devastating observations, even with a limited sample size of the week and a half I have seen them.

Crystal (and will assume Silk) has been fairly easy on the difficulty list because of the ultra weak mortar type units (replaced by frog prince). Scrolls has always been a challenging tourney because of the enemy mix type -- ranged units which almost always have support troops that are excellent against our best primary troops.

(Caveat --- I almost exclusively use auto fight in tourneys, simply not enough time in my day / visual stamina to do manual battles with as many provinces as I like to run through). I do not yet have orc strategist 3, as I am in early part of Amuni.

The increase in difficulty, even with a level 22 Monastery, health hut, and stage 10 fire phoenix to help, has been eye watering.
Upgraded troops seem to show up after province 8 -- and they are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to beat with barracks troops from round 3+ for me. Specialist troops, or using what were previously much less effective combos, have had some success, though still with higher loss rates than I would have expected. (Caveat 2 .. Needles is also level 22, so my elvish archers pack a good punch as well). I stopped at 18 provinces this week -- had been going out to 30 / round 2 or so for the KP and sometimes farther for relics / rune shards. My tourney play during the event was skewed due to the solve encounter / collect relics tasks that seemed to cycle through so often.

It has been even more noticeable for me this week -- with 2+ mages, 3+ rangers, and orc heavies, those battles are pretty much unwinnable for me from province 13+. There are some other particularly nasty enemy combinations as well. The rangers in quantity are particularly vexing -- higher initiative, and ranged strike back = hit first, hit more often, and with the seemingly much more difficult terrain set ups which Ashrem, among others, has noticed -- this is brutally efficient at depleting our troops before even the dogs can get in range to chew on them --- provided the mages haven't hit them with a 50% attack debuff first.

We have the advantage, as I believe it was Qaccy pointed out in another thread, of potential boosts to health / damage output from wonders and expiring buildings. Those advantages aren't enjoyed by the vast majority of the player base, either because they haven't reached the chapters for some of those key wonders or because they have chosen not to aggressively level up those types of wonders. Some of the counter units which have previously been effective don't get their own third star upgrade until very late in the chapter progressions.

Very open to ideas / strategies / tactics for better dealing with these upgraded enemy units.
Thanks very much!!

I feel we are being shafted up the- uh, okay, my inclinations are not PG, and I have nothing meaningful to contribute, except from saying, "I FEEL YOU." or, "I HEAR YOU."
