Like many folks I have been playing through the Mermaid Summer event on beta and now on live. While I like the idea of endless quests, I am frustrated by the implementation and the repetitive nature of many of the quests. I also dislike the frequency with which things like Gain CC and Vision vapor appear.
Notes
For factories - the base goods run will be 4 factory runs, multiples above that will increase the expense.
For workshops - the base supply run will be 6 workshops, multiples above that will increase the expense.
For troop recruitment - unit base expense will be the equivalent of 3 armories + max level barracks assumption and be figured as 1/4 unit, 1/2 unit, 1 unit, 2 units worth of recruit (any source) or production (barrack etc creation)
Supplies - definitions I will use will be based on the maximum level chapter workshop the player is in multiplied by a number of workshop productions.
Coins - definition I will use will be based on the maximum level chapter residence the player is in multiplied by a number of residences and assuming a maximum coin gather.
Frequency - this is the recommended times the quest should occur.
Currency valuation will depend upon the relative expense and vary between 18 - 84
Relative Expense
Free - this is almost no effort and very little time
Minimal - these cost a little time and gold or supplies or limited goods
Moderate - these cost a reasonable amount of time and some goods
Expensive - these cost a high amount of gold/supplies, goods or time (24 hour run)
Very Expensive - these cost a high amount of goods, time, or relics (48 hour run)
In theory the quests would vary between expense and frequency - a selection of free, minimal, moderate, expensive, and very expensive in a given run based on frequency and one time quests only occurring once.
Example: (In any order)
Give Neighborly Help 3 times
Accept 1 Player or Wholesaler trade offer
Gain 700 Supplies
Produce [Tier 1 Boost] [3 hrs] 4 times
Produce Beverages 3 times
Recruit a unit
Gain 10 KP
Produce [Tier 1 Boost] [9 hrs] 6 times
Gain Coins – x20 Residence
Recruit 1 unit Heavy range
Gain or use factory enchantments 1 time
Gain 6 Enchantment items
Produce Beverages 15 times
Accept 4 Player or Wholesaler trade offers
The total value of my list is less than the current, but given they are theoretically endless and there are limits on how often some of the more expensive quests can occur the values may be too high yet.

Revised quest list in next post (length issues)

While I'm loving the new format, overall, I definitely agree that there should be some improvements made, such as designating certain quests as rare to prevent getting so many that put too much strain on anybody, having the ability to skip a quest perhaps once a day, and receiving more chest currency in proportion with the difficulty of the quest, instead of based strictly on the number of quests completed total.

That's what I tried to do with my chart - high cost quests are rare or unique, free ones frequent but give a low amount of currency.

I think the random (and I would like it random, which it is not currently) endless quests have merit, however, my experience on beta shows that if you are unlucky you get an overabundance of complete 2 provinces and collect 15 vision vapor etc. Which while not impossible are a drag to do... or cost so much or cause you to be well over the number of provinces you may want to have completed for your level that given the frequency of events and these quests causes a huge strain on players which will eventually increase the likelihood that players do not participate in events or get frustrated enough to leave.

I would like to see quest currency valuation based on cost/difficulty and a method of skipping or quest expiration so that if there IS a quest that blocks or takes an excessive amount of time (here's looking at 60 hour scouting) that there is a way to bypass them.

No worries I think I covered the nutshell idea that 1) currency given by quests should be based on time/cost 2) there needs to be more variety so I added some additional quests to the list (and removed some) 3) Certain quests are expensive in ways beyond gold/supply/good cost in that they push players beyond where they want to expand to and should be limited in occurrence especially as they have occurred and will occur in other events.

I have completed Constructs and have upgraded all my buildings. I am stuck on Research 1 Tech or Upgrade two buildings to level 16. I used my Restoration Instants when I had a couple quests to upgrade to level 14. Now I either have to take the time and resources to upgrade buildings I don't need to level 16 or quit. I was excited for the endless quests and now I am stuck. I am very unhappy with this quest and this event. It is very much against the people who have played the longest. And since it is all random, I could get the same quest again and again.

I am in the same predicament. As you may or may not have surmised, I am stuck as well, I have a full city and I am at the end of my tech tree. The city suits me well, until the expiring buildings go away. A) I don't want to lose the current expiring buildings and B) I still want to take part in the event but C) the quest takes me to where I don't want to go or can't go (ie. Research1 Technology or Upgrade 2 buildings to level 14 or higher). Here is a couple of suggestions... either A) add a third option to get past this quest (like what you did in the previous event) or B) add a terminator technology research after the last technology (Ancient Wonder of the Constructs) and call it something like "Prepare the Way" which would have comparable KP and resources to complete but instead of opening up a feature of the game you could just provide Ranking Points or something like that. Then after the completion of that technology reset it so that it can be done again :) naturally it would go away once the next guest race comes along, but it would be tacked on the end of that tree.

Yes, that's where the option to skip a quest would be useful.
Maybe something like:
Research 1 technology or Upgrade 2 buildings to level 14 or higher OR GAIN 20 KP
Research 1 technology or Upgrade 2 buildings to level 16 or higher OR GAIN 30 KP
Scout 1 Province or Upgrade 1 building to level 14 or higher OR GAIN 20 KP
Scout 1 Province or Upgrade 2 buildings to level 16 or higher OR GAIN 30 KP

YES! This would be much more intuitively designed and user-friendly. No one (well, maybe some) likes to run face-first into zero chance of progression, and avoiding that form of alienation should be a top priority.

Another thought along the lines of the OR quests is that instead of a single quest being pulled it pulls 3 quests so instead of Scout 1 province you have:
Scout 1 Province
Upgrade 2 buildings to level 14
Produce Boosted T1 9 hour x4
and you have to complete one of the three options. In theory they should be within the same cost category. Being on both this forum, the beta forum and a facebook group - I think there is a lot of frustration with the event. I hope they review metrics when the event is over to see just what percentage of the player base actually continued completing quests at the end of the event.

I'd like to be able to plan...
BUT: if the new system is kept (And I think it will be kept by INNO), then I'd like to see a skip/decline option added and better value added as Lyleth suggests. I'd also like to see issues taken care of that are affecting folks that have been listed time and again in the other feedback threads, especially the ones where a person has had multiple quests come up that are extremely costly or HUGELY time consuming. We have a finite amount of time to work the quests and if you factor in these huge quests, then it effectively removes all hope of getting a decent prize for someone.
A challenge is good, it makes things rewarding, but if you make it stressful AND irritating, then what fun is that?
Personally, I hate the new odds for chests that INNO is using now (I must be the most unlucky person around) and would like to see my effort compensated with at least a good CHANCE at getting what I click on and INNO, for Gods sake, please substitute something else in the chests offering coin rains... If I see another one, I think I'll scream at the monitor.

Oh no, no! You brighten up the forums with your satellite! DO NOT LEAVE US. Or, if it's right for you, leave us but think fondly back. I think the strategy for success in this game is playing it and enjoying it, but my standards are low in that regard.
i really don't want to leave, but if i do, i think that i would still check in to the forum, as i have less disappointment and more fun in the forum

While it's possible that because so few participate here, we stick out (for better or worse), and more fun, meaningful (in a sense), discussion takes place due to that, I hope you do continue to light up our sky. : )

I hope you stay Sputnik, but I understand. I left for four years, I may leave again eventually due to frustration.

I did change it to multi-vote so you can tell me I am insane. Right now, 50/50 with the go back to the old format and give me a better variety/valuation (aka this suggestion in some form) with a few saying at least give me the option to skip some these 'beep' quests because they are costing me too much time or hurting my city progress.
