Fire phoenix usage

I got the fire phoenix by crafting it in the MA. It says it's an evolving building, so I guess I'll need ten of the artifacts to fully develop it. Is there any way to get the artifacts? Can the same thing be accomplished using RR spells? Thanks in advance.

I read in one of the clan recruiting posts that they consider the fire phoenix and brown bear indispensable it you take the battle path. Thoughts?

@ElfGunn The most important part of the Fire Phoenix is the effect you get when you feed it a pet food. When fed, it gives all of your troops a 5% damage bonus for each stage it has. So a stage 10 Fire Phoenix is going to give you a 50% damage bonus. This effect lasts for 24 hours, so you can do 2 rounds of the tournament on a single feeding. Royal Restorations will help you upgrade it, but they will not help you evolve it. You must have Phoenix Artifacts for that.

In Beta, they recently put Phoenix artifacts in the Spire as prizes on a temporary basis, replacing the Moonstone Library buildings. There is no official announcement on when this will happen for us in the Live Worlds. If and when this happens for us, you will be able to get Phoenix Artifacts in the Spire of Eternity for a limited time (I think Beta was a 6 week trial).

In addition, the spring event (normally around April) is typically Phoenix themed. Last year the building was the Coldfire Phoenix. However we were give the option to convert Coldfire Phoenix artifacts into Phoenix artifacts in the Magic Academy. The exchange rate was 2 Coldfire artifacts to make 1 Phoenix artifact. Since I missed the original Phoenix event, I did this. There is a pretty good that the upcoming April event will also be Phoenix related, so this opportunity might present itself again in a few months.

Because of the exchange rate my Fire Phoenixes are only partially evolved. But they still make a huge difference. They are absolutely the best building in the game for a combat oriented player. I am eager to finish evolving them so I can get max benefit instead of partial benefit.

I'm part way through Chapter 5. Is it necessary to choose between battle and catering?
For good resuls in the future, battling is the way to go.
Soon enough catering becomes too expensive to maintain.

Could you please define "good results"?

@ElfGunn your current tournament scores are very respectable. If you are happy with that, you do not need to choose.
If you want to get into and stay in the top 50 then you need to focus on battle.

T50?

make it top a lot, for t50 you need 6000-10000 points depending on a server, you will not get even close to that with negotiations unless you have a specialised low level account.

"good" is pretty simple:
It's a lot easier to battle than to negotiate in the further you get in the game.
anything better than his current tournament score will be very hard if you do not fight.

looking at his progress he does not dislike tournaments.
So for the future battling is the wat to go.

When I was at that stage of the game I used a mix of fighting and catering. I always tried to fight the easier and smaller encounters. If a fight was hard or if I was short of troops then I catered. At the end of Dwarves you will unlock the Dwarven Bulwark ancient wonder. This AW will give you a huge increase in training time, which means your military buildings will train a lot more troops between log-ins. Before I had Dwarven Bulwark my military buildings would almost always run out of troops to train between my log-ins. After I got it and leveled it a few times, they ran almost non-stop. The extra troop availability from this makes a fighting only strategy much more feasible.

Which is what I said.

I ask you to define "good results". 3k is good, right?

If players are happy with 3k+/- then they can easily run a catering build through chapter 12 as long as they are not trying to farm kp.

Edit: Past chapter 12 lives a monster I have not mathed. Sentient goods!!

"...fight the easier and smaller encounters. If a fight was hard...then I catered.". Exactly this...a pragmatic approach.

I just won a phoenix artifact in the Spire, in a bonus chest. It says it works for all the phoenixes except the coldfire. So I can place the fire phoenix I crafted, and begin evolving it.

yes; and hopefully you'll get more from the spire. Good luck.
