Gain "good" amount of xxxx

I am somewhere in the midst of the dwarfs chapter.

How does one determine a guesstimate for a value of small / good amounts in the events?
Specifically, for step 56 of the sequential tasks.

I'm trying to plan ahead a bit, since I somewhat went nuts about scouting and am now taking 18 hours a pop on those.
