Gems Relics needed to advance

How does one get Gems Relics for making Combining Catalyst when it's required for this Phoenix event to get to the next stage? There are none to be found in the World Map? I could be stuck on this and never move. Please advise.

There is a recipe that comes up in the Magic academy you can keep an eye out for, and Tuesday is the Gems tournament where you can get loads.
I'd suggest saving up everything you can for that
