Soggy as always you rock, I agree that 4:1 should be enough and the a better and more equitable set of filters for mobile and browser would be advantageous to all.

I am almost finished with Halflings, so I know not of the issues you allude to Risen Malchiah, but I am sure I will find out soon enough.

There, fixed it in the title. Now let the argument over what is considered "bad" commence! Yah!

Ah, right, and wanted to elaborate that you rarely see the "good" cross-tier, making them nearly nonexistent, since very few, if any, would be willing to shoot themselves in the foot that way and post 'em. This assertion is, of course, going by the default offer ratio recommended by the Trader and not equalized like @Risen Malchiah does to make the trades a good deal for both parties.

You're not often to come across any true absolutes, though, with no exceptions to the rules and all.

Wanna see a nasty Halfings example?

A halfling City with
Level 27 Workshops
Level 27 Residences
250 Culture per square
Country Lane roads
700% boost

A level 23 Planks factory makes 554 planks per square once you factor in all of the above support buildings
A level 23 Gems factory makes 577 Gems per square once you factor in all of the above support buildings

So,
If you trade your 1 gem for 1 plank you are still ahead (note the game won't even allow this ratio of trades)
If you trade your 1 gem for 4 planks you are bending your trade partner over pretty hard.
If you trade your 1 gem for 16 planks as the trader suggests, you are not even using lube.

Most of the problems fixed right there.

And just to clarify on the poll I added, as you can't put in a longer description (those better at being concise could no doubt word it more clearly), I am referring to placing (check out my mad MS Paint skillz) trades like this:

People actually do that?!

While I will take trades like that for small cities in my FS during tournaments, the small cities are instructed what and how to post them and they're taken as soon as I know they're up. This past week was our push (we got 10 chests for the first time ever!!) and I had to be AFK due to real life during the day. So, sometimes the really poor trades would sit there while I slept or was at work, but I'd clear them when I got up and then again in the evenings. I painstakingly explain to all newbies the insanity of my placing the trade...as in it would disappear so fast they'd never see it!

Funny I came to the forums because of this exact topic. Even members of my own fellowship who are at or above my level are posting them. I even told people outright that I don't take them unless it is for a beginner. I am all for working with my fellows but geeze man that's just rude.

I kinda don't get it but I post plenty of fair trades when I want to rebalance and I post them in large numbers since I figure other high ranked players will grab them. They seldom wait long to be picked up.

I'm a bit confused. I looked at both of your charts. First, I don't post trades like that, but I wondered about the numbers you posted. I opened my Trader and put in gems for planks. As I increased the gems amount, the planks amount increased by what the trader thought was fair (?) 1100 gems was 17,600 planks for a trade. I see those kinds of trades in the Trader. I always figured that the poster was taking what the the suggested trade was, assuming it was good and would eventually be taken. Am I being naive?

Let's call it 'uninformed'.
The formula used by the trader only considers the production costs (coins+supplies) when establishing the mathematical definition of 'fair'. It does not consider: space needed, residences for pop and bldgs for culture to support. And certainly does not account for manufacturing time, nor supply/demand for the goods in question. That's why the topic continues to come up. The game currently uses 16:4:1 ratio for T1:T2:T3 and labels it a 'fair' trade.. The more acceptable ratio would be 1:2:4 (though I think I've seen that last number as a 5 in some places and would be inclined to find that acceptable)
There are folks who will never accept this explanation and will continue to post these trades, but ONLY T3 demanding T1 or T2 and defend how fair it is to the bitter end. Haven't seen a single one of them take up the challenge of offering them in the other direction if they're of such 'value'...
Edit: got that 2nd ratio backwards: 4:2:1

Has someone submitted this complaint about the cross tier ratios with the developers ?

Whats to complain about there are times its proper and worthwhile. To stop all cross-tier trades would be a big mistake no matter the ratio.

edit for typo

I don't want them stopped, even if I feel nothing but contempt for those who post them, but I would like the ability to filter them out of the Trader so it is easier to see the trades I am actually willing to accept. It's an ungodly mess to go through them regularly as it stands currently, and while I try to resist the impulse, it greatly diminishes my desire to trade at all. Most of the time anymore, I simply post trades and walk away.
