Increased Battle Losses

I'm not sure if there is an increase. I've managed to raise my tournament average a bit over the last month or so and since I cater/negotiate/bribe everything else, I haven't noticed. Or the increase is hidden as I'm chalking up the higher losses to going deeper into the tournament.

Has anyone else noticed (hard not to) the increased losses for fighting (everywhere)? Are they putting the 'squeeze' on fighters?
The battle system is an absolute farce in this game... though mostly, there's 2 massive 'walls' that players end up getting smacked with;
a) Ch.1 - Ch.5 world map provinces.
The research tree does not actively build your unit size large enough to counter the sizes that the enemy will naturally have, even when you only scout the bare minimum required provinces to advance across the chapters.
AND
Your units are still absolute crap being limited in general to just 2* barracks units, though the odd event building plus the craftable Valorian Valor + Grounds of the Ork Strategist can give access to some of the more specialised units.

b) The tournament + Spire formulas actively punish players for advancing in the game, as every expansion you place, every mandetory research you complete, AND, every AW level you gain will make your tourny/spire encounters go up in cost. (both negotiation + fighting)

If the devs had a brain among them, they'd instead just front-load the difficulty increases for fighting/negotiating when you begin a new chapter, and then completing researches would actively *decrease* the costs, thereby rewarding progress instead of actively punishing it at every turn!
The expansion cost could then stay, (as many people tend to add expansions as they begin new chapters, especially the guest race chapters where the guest race settlements simply grow bigger & bigger!), as your active researching would then lower the costs that those expansions have incurred.
Oh, and also, remove the damn AW's from the formula, since many of them are sub-par at best, meaning that due to how the formula currently works, there's even less incentive to even build the stupid things in the first place!lol.

I haven't gotten to the spire stage, but I wondered if I just blew it with scouting too many provinces at the beginning of my first world, so I tried to be conservative with scouting in another world, and you cannot progess with the quests or reseach without scouting and resolving encounters that you dont have an army for. This means that you cannot grow if you cant spend diamonds. I like many aspects of this game, but it is deeply flawed.

@Tehya1 looking at your city in elven architect it seems that you have every possible factory down. Are you not getting trades picked up? It would be beneficial in the long run to only produce your boosted goods and trade for everything else. I noticed you are in a fellowship with lots of big cities contact your archmage to see if you can get a building round done it help you out a bit.

Another thing I played on Winyandor twice and both times most of my trades were picked up by my neighbors you may want to post 3 star trades if your fellowship isn't picking any up.

My fellowship is great. They are really helping. I am only scouting for the event right now, and I am playing the tournaments. One of my FS members suggested some areas to concentrate on. How far am I from where I should be about a month in? I am three researches from ch. 3.

@Tehya .. that's a good fellowship with active players and balanced goods .. you would be better served to build just your boosted goods factories and trade with your fellowship for the non boosted goods, your size is fine for a month, the trick is set your own pace so you keep it fun to grow

@hvariidh gwendrot one of my FS members said that as well. Does that mean sell my marble and plank manufactures?
If steel is your boosted then yes sell your marble and planks manufactories. As you keep gaining more steel relics then your boost % will continue to increase and your steel manufactories will get more and more efficient. But your marble and planks will stay at the same level of efficiency. Max boost level takes 500 relics and gives a 700% bonus. So eventually your steel manufactories are going to be 7 times as efficient as a marble or planks manufactory of the same level.

When you sell off your non-boosted manufactories, you might want to build a few extra steel manufactories using the space and population freed up. Or if all of your existing steel manufactories are not already at max level, you could use the population freed to do further upgrades. Essentially the idea is to produce a LOT of your boosted good and trade it with your FS and neighbors for all the non-boosted you need.

Yes, I have noticed a massive increase in fighting difficulty. Prior to last weeks tournament I was able to win from 17 to 22 fights now I'm back at 12 and it's burning through my troops. Funny thing is at the start of last weeks tournament I placed a fire phoenix and evolved it to stage 5 and it is now stage 7, and I am losing almost 50% more fights. (fed of course). Same is happening in the spire - previously I was able to fight and win part way through the 3rd level in the gateway, this week I lost at the 2nd to last chest on level 2 gateway. I suspect the fire phoenix, but last week I moved into chap 11, and this past weekend I added several AWs, and I have acquired 3 new expansions. So I don't know what has influenced the change, but I am definitely feeling it.

Scrolls week is always harder than Crystal week because of the troop mix.

I've noticed a bit of a "squeeze" in the spire, but as I've recently been doing a few more provinces for the tourneys I'm not sure as of yet if I am doing it to myself or if it is Inno's configurations.

You're doing great so far. Once you get to chapter three you'll have the spire to help you win diamonds. (It does take a lot of goods, so I urge you to get rid of any nonboosts as quickly as you can, and start building extra factories of your boosts in that space. You'll earn so much more goods overall that way.)

This is a game that takes a lot of patience, but I think it's worth it in the end. Best of luck to you.

I already removed the non boosted factories, and I got to chapter 3 this week! I was able to fight though the first few chests of two levels, and then I catered. I didnt make it all the way, but I made it to the third level. :D
