Lord Rinion - Stories and Art

Lord Rinion

Lord Rinion lived in a province of Felyndral called Greenvale, and green the vale was, with lush trees and grasslands bordered by crystal clear waters of the Blue Lake. He lived in a large hall and resided over his peers with a noble eloquence and regality normally reserved for royalty...but as Lord Rinion surmised – an Englishman's home is his castle and so for all intense and purposes he WAS as near to royal as you could get!

A fair elf, for elf he was with the bluest of skin to match the clear blue waters of Blue Lake, he maintained order with ease and was deeply respected as he was not afraid to stand up to any who dared to question his methods of fair pay to hard working labourers. He made sure all his minions had adequate housing within the province and plenty of food and ale.

The only thing that Lord Rinion seemed a little unease with (and some say feared) were females...ANY females, elves or otherwise. He had fought many a battle and been praised highly for his bravery, females however, were another story.

As an elfling he had had five older sisters, the eldest being Lady Elsymir who he called Elsy just because he could and he knew it annoyed her. She would retort loudly to their parents that her name was Elsymir and NOT Elsy like a commoner. However as time passed the name became familiar and Elsymir found it less irritating although she would never admit that to Rinion. The other four sisters were called Filauria, Lhoril, Elaéyadar and Braegen and the less said about them the better! Lord Rinion was forever being bossed around and because they were female they all stuck together and blamed him for any troubles the six of them got into as youngsters.

Older and wiser now Rinion could stand up to the biggest of elves or men but where females were concerned, his bravery waned rapidly and all Lord Rinion could feel were his knees weakening and starting to quiver and quake. It wasn't that females, now he was older, bossed him around any more, it was simply the fact that he KNEW what they could turn into!

It was purely fact in Rinion's eyes that females were bad news, bossy and bad for his health. Nowadays they got what they wanted not by demanding it or setting him up to take the blame if things went wrong but by something much, much worse...flirting! The fluttering of a fan would cause his pulse to race...not from excitement but from pure unadulterated fear! The bat of eyelashes had him almost swooning and as for a rosy blush from any female and Lord Rinion's knees became mush. It wasn't fair that a noble being such as himself could suffer from such a dilemma.

It was one such lady that had the good Lord Rinion in just such a state.(Part two to follow soon)

Her name was Lady Argos of Ferndale, a beautiful elleth, with pure white hair adorned with gold jewels. Her pale blue complexion, smooth and pure was completed with eyes of brilliant sapphire blue. One smile from the fair elleth and Lord Rinion wilted, his knees buckling from apprehension.

The day had begun quite normally, he had risen early as was his whim, partaken of fruits and ale for breakfast and had walked carefree and contented to the stables. There he had met the honourable Lord Nutso just returning from a sojourn over night with the good Dasvenor. The two had rendezvoused with Drol Fle, the greatest and most powerful elf in the land and had been busy discussing the plight of the noble Big Bad Bob. He was having difficulties with a local elf called Nae'a who had been scrumping apples and pinching supplies from everyone in an attempt to be the fastest builder in Elvenar. The day before it had been Big Bad Bob's turn to feel the elf's sting and so the plan had been hatched to exact revenge.

Nae'a had risen in the rankings a full 18000 points, quicker than anyone else in his fellowship and puffed up with pride, he had resorted to any means, fair or foul, to beat the rankings of all in the fair land of Elvenar. This had to stop...it had been agreed that once and for all they would teach the young cub a lesson.

Lord Rinion had thus, walked into the aftermath of the two discussing the debate.

“I conclude that the elf Nae'a will answer for his mischief...all we need now is a carrot to dangle in front of him!” stated Dasvenor.

“Yes, indeed, but where to find such a carrot...that is the question!” replied Lord Nutso.

Lord Rinion confused, cleared his throat and asked, “...a carrot?”

“Indeed my Lord, we need a carrot...something to tempt the elf Nae'a out so we may catch him in the act of mischief. Someone who would be willing to risk his supplies...” replied Dasvenor.

“You mean me?” Retorted Rinion with an air of inevitability.

“Wellllll...if you would be the decent chap and volunteer it would save us having to delegate any others. And you do have the gusto to try and beat the elf in the rankings, sooooooo...you would be a good carrot!”

Rinion sighed. “Very well..so...what is the plan....?”
