My magic academy shows no recipes to create, it is Grey with a little stop watch on it. I did reload several times in several ways, even from the play store. What's up?

You have to research crafting to unlock it. I think it is done in either chapter 2 or 3.

Sounds like you've done everything to clear a glitch/cache issue I've heard to try. Since you seem to have done the uninstalling & reinstalling from the play store, I think this one will need a support ticket sent in. From in-game on mobile app: bottom right gear icon; On window that opens, bottom left green button gets you there.
