The point is that if you ask for an even trade (100% value) then people who are further away and have not "discovered" you on the map will see a bad trade (67% value) because of the trader fee. If you ask for less than you offer (60 of A for 50 of B) then your close neighbors see a great trade (120%) and those further away see a workable compromise (80%). If none of your close neighbors are trading, you may have make the deal even more lopsided to make it attractive to your distant trading partners: offer 75 for 50, they'll pay 75 for 75 and you get your 50. Can't wait for Fellowships to hopefully fix this situation.
