The contest kinda vanished, and the thread asking about where it went and why got deleted. Not archived. Deleted. No one knows what the contests rules were(technically)...and there is no prize offered.

So what we have here is a click-bait title thread, for a contest that isn't a contest, to spend limited duration resources, for the honor and glory of the Queen? Got it.

At least you won't run a-fowl (sic) of prize laws that have very likely been broken in the past.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled fungus farms wherever they may be growing. The offal part of this joke is, we didn't even make it.

Definition of "Contest"

From the Oxford English Dictionary: Struggle for victory, for a desired object. Amicable conflict, as between competitors for a prize or distinction.
From Merriam-Webster: A struggle for superiority or victory; a competition in which each contestant performs without direct contact with or interference from competitors.

That has been the accepted usage of the noun "contest" since the 17th century, so I don't think it was lost in translation. It is not slang or an idiom.

So, how is there a contest without rules and a prize?

Perhaps it should simply have been called "an assortment of mushrooms" or "mushroom sharing" or "mushroom collection".
