I've tried several new towns and find that the quests in the chapters 1 & 2 really should be adapted since they push players to overextend without any warning of the consequenses.
So in both chapters I'd like to see some quests added like :
keep your scout home for 8 hours
keep your scout home for 16 hours
keep your scout home for 24 hours
refrain from completing encounters for 8, 16 and 24 hours (should be rewarded with some kp as well as supplies)
As for the battles : in the first 2 chapters it is utterly ridicuous to have players face units that are far overpowered. Mistwalkers, Rangers, Orc-deserters and Orc-generals have no business being there. Especially since the mistwalkers have such a high initiative, range and damage that a player will often be left with only 3 squads before he can even make the first move,
Not to mention that units like the mistwalker, ranger and orc-deserter have a strikeback against ranged attacks, but ALSO against melee attacks. whereas a simple archer will not.
Same with the opposing dogs, with 2 strikebacks which often do quite a bit of damage on simple lvl1 basic troops.
If Inno wants to balance the game, they should take a look at how a game starts.
To counter the overpowered enemy units a player now gets 150 free squads, but even in ring 2 they are mostly useless due to the overpowered opposing units.
The idea of having to face 'only' 2 opposing squads was to give players a chance to try out things and have the advantage of more squads.
However, 5 squads of 15 sworddancers (troopupgrade 1&2) are absolutely no match for 2 squads of 24 mistwalkers for instance.
So some balance in the KIND of troops a player faces might be in order in the lower chapters.
