My guess is we can begin just ignoring the Winter gakfest starting on Monday. ;)

Seriously, if you value your mental health, then do yourselves a huge favour and don't bother playing this pile of crap event...
We've hated it for what, 7+ years in FoE? And the elvenar version managed somehow to be even worse?! (ie: at least in FoE we had the option to simply use diamonds to 'buy' the previous day's daily special - but nowadays they make it easy to at least get a fully evolved grand prize!)

The Winter Event usually starts first week in December, to over-run New year - expect it any day now!

One of our players just reached the 'Bonus' set of quests in the Winter Event.
Quest rewards are now only 20 Ribbons, and a lot harder, including chapter specific Workshops and Manufactories.

From the Original Announcement in Beta:
Based on your feedback from the Mermaids and Autumn Zodiac events, we have also made the following changes related to the event quests:
  • There will be two different parts of the event quest line. The first part will be regular event quests for everyone, the second part will be a bonus section. The regular section will contain randomized quests, but be less repetitive than before. This section is finite and set to end at some point.
The bonus section follows right after and will contain significantly harder quests, while granting a relatively small reward. This is aimed at the players who managed to finish the quest line and are still looking to continue working getting even more Red Ribbons until the event ends.
  • The regular section of the quest line will not require productions of a building of a specific level. However, this quest condition remains in the game for future use. Additionally, these quests will still occur in the bonus section.
  • Quests that previously asked for a specific basic goods (tier 1) were partially replaced with quests that also accept crafted (tier 2) or sometimes even magical goods (tier 3).
  • It is no longer possible to have the exact same quest appear twice in a row.

It is nice to see the design team beginning to respond to player feedback positively!

Here is our Event Note including sample quests and prizes - you are welcome to share with your friends and fellowship!!

Winter wallpaper. My money is on Monday.
My money is on Thursday...
Not only is it the single WORST gakfest event Inno has ever inflicted on their players, but running this poo-fest on Thursday also means they can double-screw us over by limiting the amount of Spire & Tournament options to start things off on the worst foot possible!:p

Yes, I'm a cynical, bitter little fellow...
But as the age old saying goes, "hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."

No announcement as yet. They could spring it on us. It is possible they may be rethinking the unpopular crapshoot they created. 8 hr time instants were a great consolation prize. As a daily prize...seriously?

I think the last couple of announcements were posted here on the day of, rather than a couple of days before. But don't we normally get a couple of days warning in-game also? We are well past the normal 2 weeks after start on Beta. And before the two week gap, it was a one week gap, so maybe with this event they are extending it to a three week gap for this and future events? If so, that would put the start early Wed morning on the 4th.

The event spans 28 days. It is traditional for it to run through New Year's Day - so Wednesday is a good call.
That is why it seems to be 'a week late'.

For the December Event, how often do the ribbons appear in your city? Once a day? Several times a day? Is it worth buying the outpost? How much is it? Does everyone who tries end up winning the Grand Prize?

The event currency that pops up around your city generally spawns in one spot per hour, and normally with a max of 8 showing at one time. Now, those 8 spots can sometimes be worth 2 or 3 ribbons, instead of 1, so you can sometimes collect more than 8 total from a full spawning.

If this event follows previous event, there's a possible maximum of 6 collection sites around the outskirts of you city. Each site will have 1 to 3 ribbons. The outpost would add a +1 ribbon to each site. I've collected at 6 hour intervals, if that's the case for this event then you could get a minimum of 24 ribbons in a day.

a) Roughly 1 ribbon spawn per hour, up to a max of 6 ribbons.
With very active collection, (ie: log-in every 3 hours), you can easily pick up at least 20+ ribbon spawns per day.

b) For this event, the Outpost is a complete waste of money... the daily prizes thus far are garbage, and the so-called "Grand Prize" is likewise a pile of junk vs. the other event offerings from this past year.

c) Up until now, it's been 'generally' doable that if you both, 1 - complete the entire main quest line, AND, chose your chests intelligently (ie: always taking the most grand prize efficient chests), then you'd walk away with 1x max-level Grand Prize building...
THIS crap-shoot event however? yeah, Inno is basically making it impossible to get a Lv10 grand prize unless you get extremely lucky!

Overall, don't waste your money or in-game resources, (ie: time instants and/or coin/supply instants, CC's, etc...) on this pile of garbage event.
The Beta "test" is currently at about 31+ pages of anger and vitriol over how craptastic this event is. :p

Yeah, I know I've read quite a bit of it. And after thirty years of the internet, it still kind of amazes me that actual adults will spew their emotional filth all over public places like this. Will you people please grow up?! Nobody wants to read your petty, juvenile venting!

'Winter Magic' starts on Thursday 5th and runs until January 2nd.
I haven't seen any announcements for the US yet, so this probably assumes that EN and US start dates are the same. This was not the case with start of chapter 15 though (US was 2 days behind).

There are going to be some changes in live event vs beta:

Hi everyone!

Just to let you know: At the moment we see that the amounts of Red Ribbons players are getting on Beta are lower than anticipated. While changes won't be possible on Beta anymore without the risk of breaking things, we have some changes planned for the Live release of this event, including reducing the number of quests before hitting the bonus segment while at the same time giving out more Red Ribbons per quest reward (so basically it will come down to getting about the same amount of Red Ribbons for the entire basic questline as on Beta, but with less quests. So players on Live will get Red Ribbons faster and with less work and they'll end up with more "bonus time" for the bonus segment, therefore being able to acquire more Red Ribbons during the total duration of the event.)

We also agree with you on the number of similar types of quests and will simultaneoulsy make some changes there, to make the quests more worthwile and less tedious.

We'd like to once again thank you for sharing all your feedback and suggestions for improvement. It really helped us a lot in the balancing of this event and although some suggestion weren't possible to implement in the short timeframe we had, it did help us gain insight in what you would like to see for future events.

Kind regards,
Your Elvenar Team

Okay, now I'm *really* scared!

On the one hand, they say, "we're giving you more ribbons per quest"...
But then, they say, "there's less quests before the 'bonus' quests begin."

So really, it leaves me with the feeling that all they've done is play a shell game that in the end won't be much, if any appreciable gain, unless they've also added more ribbons to the 'bonus' quests. (otherwise, you just hit the stupid 20 ribbon wall 'o doom faster, which means an even faster quitting of the event quests, since only a crazy person would scout/research for 20 ribbons)

Following the beta play-through thus far, it seems like the main quest line only gives out enough ribbons to get maaaaaybe 5-6 building upgrades, which is frankly, complete & utter crap...
The Gingerbread House sucks enough as it is at Lv10. What kind of drooling idiots do Inno take us for if they think we'd seriously waste precious city space for a beyond useless Lv6-7 version?!:rolleyes:o_Oo_O

Got a specific question on the daily prize "Barrel Crane"...looking at it the supplies/t3/mana it produces is over 36 hours...is there an early collect? Otherwise that's a really awkward timeframe.

Also I looked up the mana comparison and it seems it's pretty much half as good as a mana hut per square for mana, but adding pop makes it interesting. Say in constructs having 2 of these would be 18 squares making roughly the mana of 9 squares worth of mana huts but give 2120 pop, about a quarter of a VR3 worth. If you can say 9 squares of the 18 is worth it for the mana production the pop only has to be the other 9 squares value...it's not quite there but it's not like we get VR3's every event either.
