Odd bug while trying to upgrade Moonstone mana and gum tree

I decided to spend a few RRs to upgrade my two extra pairs of mana and gum tree from Moonstone set. When I upgrade, instead of taking 10 sec, it freezes for several minutes. When it finally finishes, it hasn't upgraded and an RR has not been used. I've tried many times to upgrade; mostly no upgrades happen, but a couple of the upgrades took.

Is this a known bug? Any advice on how to proceed?

Yup, that's what's happening to me. I'm a mobile app user, and I think the workaround mentioned there is what worked for me. I kept trying close restart upgrade, and eventually got both producing mana.
