Your Portal Profit spells can be stored. They are located in your inventory, under the instants tab.

And unless you are really desperate for the guest race goods for the chapter you are in, do not use any of them until your portal is level 4. The portal profits give you a percentage of what the max storage is for your portal at it's current level. They also only provide the goods that have a storage limit, not the ones that are unlimited.
