Someone please help me calm a Mage down

Love the perks, hate the perks...

We have between 4-5K points in our tournament archive. I checked to see how much toward the end of the 6th or 7th chest today.

Attaching a screenshot that has totally wigged out one of the other Mages, who thinks someone spent our points. I've pointed out to him that only Mages and the AM can actually spend the points.

He thinks someone has spent most of our points. Is he right?

My understanding is that the + sign shows up when you have enough stash to finish a chest.

Please tell me how to explain this to him.

It shows right there that one of the Mages or the AM spent exactly 784 of the stored tournament points. Not several thousand. And yes, you spend points one chest at a time and exactly how many points are needed to complete a chest, so when it happened, there was a chest that needed that 784 to complete it. But you should do another screen shot where you are actually on world map and looking at the tournament, so you can click the green + and have the shot show how many points are still stored.

This is confusing and what I'm hoping they'll fix in my Perks UI proposal. The green + button shows up in the Map view regardless of how many points you have (bc that's currently the only place you can see how many points are archived). It doesn't show up if you are in City view and click on the Tournament tab via the shield for fellowship information. As you can see below, I can see the green + sign (Map view), but we only have 80 pts left, which is nowhere near what the next chest costs.

Since you can only use the pts if they open the next chest, spending them early is not necessarily a bad thing. As long as everyone continues to do what they normally do weekly for tourney (and don't slack off because it looks like it's 'not needed') you should be fine. We try to spend all the points each week and that usually results in an extra chest (+4000XP towards more perk levels!) and in the last chest, we still store those extra pts up to max storage again for the next week.

From your keyboard to the Elvenar gods' ears, please. This is my FS where we had a Ch 12 member stomp off in a huff when we said any city with a 30K score or better was expected to give us 1600 points in tournament each week. She sent a really hot reply saying we were not considering her "playstyle," which was to open her first 5 provinces on the first day, then park and reap rewards. Oh yes ma'am, I am considering your 150 point playstyle and finding it sorely lacking...

She then went and joined another 10+ chest FS, where the weekly point score is even higher.

Go figure. We had to boot two 300 point/week mages for consistently underperforming to make the others sit up and take notice.

If they only scored 300 points weekly, why in the world did you make them a mage in the first place? Or did they once perform better?
I'm a new Mage, and I wasn't responsible for that. The AM rewarded her for being there from the beginning. He is slowly coming around to rewarding hard work. I just asked him in a message this morning to demote her, and made the argument for rewarding hard work, not how long you've been in the FS. We'll see how that goes.

Many moons ago when converting our semi-casual FS to a 10 chest one we addressed the whole FS.
"We are looking to start getting some higher-level rewards like blueprints. To that end, we are asking everyone to eventually contribute XXXX points each week in the tournament. If you have concerns or need advice, please message us blah blah blah"
It's a process. First, you push for 10 chests once every 4 weeks, then every other week, and then weekly. The new perk should help speed this up a bit. Be prepared for some significant turnover though.

So the points are awarded weekly then? You can spend them each week and it is refiled the following week? I have been trying to get this figured out :)
Points are added when the tournament ends. Essentially it adds the points you have in whatever unfinished chest you are currently working on. For example, say your fellowship has secured the first 10 chests and you have 2500 points accumulated on the first bonus chest when the tournament ends. You will get 2500 points added to your tournament archive. The spire archive works in the same manner.

Easiest to explain with examples I think:

  1. Your perk level is 1 for a max capacity of 2,500
  2. After reaching the 10th chest (40,000 total points) your FS completes more tournament earning another 1,200 points.
  3. The excess 1,200 points your FS gained goes into your tournament archive
  4. You now have 1,200/2,500

Next week, if at any point the current chest you are working on requires less than 1,200 points you can spend points to reach it.
E.G.
  1. on Thursday your FS needs 900 points to reach the 8th chest and you do it using the green "+"
  2. your FS now has a 300/2,500 archive (1200 saved from last week minus 900 you just spent)
  3. Then, at the end of the tournament, any excess points earned beyond your final chest get added to your remaining 300 archive (to a max of 2,500)

That was done about 2 months ago. I think several of the long time members thought they were bulletproof, and this "new" way of doing things would just be gravy for them. After we booted two Mages (and I asked the AM to do that personally) for consistent underperformance, we have seen some of the other Ambassadors pick up the pace.

Some lessons are harder than others.

We have the tournament perk at level 3 which is enough for the 10th chest in case we fall short. We are looking at the spire perk right now. We used one in the help perk to help offset all the timezone's we are in for a better shot at more golden hands.

ty. We are not a weekly 10 chest fs yet. So perhaps I need to keep them until the push week, unless we are close to a chest. I am in some fs that are weekly 10 chest, so was trying to gain some perspective to figure what would help both. Perk level is 2 for that one atm.
It is kind of inefficient to just have a full tournament archive sitting and to do nothing with it. I assume that when you go for a push week you plan it and announce it several weeks in advance so everyone has time to prepare. Several weeks should also be enough time to fill your tournament archive. What I would do if I were you would be to consistently use the tournament archive to get extra chests whenever possible, even when you are not pushing. But stop using the points a few weeks before an upcoming push in order to make sure the archive is full.

I thought we only got one bonus a week and noticed someone was adding them on friday. i felt that was blowing our wad early before the big purchase for the last chest on saturday? but again, there was not very much to go with on saturday either. i noticed that they would get a chest on first or 2nd day also. thought that was a waste. let the players play and use on saturday. Before reading this post, i would see those points used on friday and watch last chest and there was no hope of getting it so i just did not play my 5th slot. thank all of you that taught me so much on this thread :+)
