These are the waypoints in the spire, at each door point there is a crystal in the thermometer.
There are in total 12 "crystals" in the spire to earn.

For each crystal you get 0.5 points added to your ranking, they are added at the same place your throne of high man adds points.
it's called i think the "old wonder ranking effect" or somthing similar.

Talk about junk. So each week you gain maybe 6. You do better on encounters for half the cost

The prizes available in the spire are the main reason for playing in it. You can win diamonds, time instants, genies, battle boosting buildings, etc.
