I've been of the mind, for quite some time, in our current culture of perpetual instant gratification, that this style of game isn't something you grow to enjoy, but that you either do or don't based on how your brain tends to function and the way you live your life, in general. Believe this opinion is supported by the higher average age of Elvenar players. Definitely not a theory that keeps me up at night, though, I just muse about it on occasion.

I've got the full set plus extra Mana and Gum tree buildings that are orbiting the main set. The rewards are giving me more than the equivelent of a fully upgraded Scrolls building at chapter 10. It's also giving me a nice boost of Mana and a CC along with a good, not great boost to culture.
I have current space for one more mana or gum tree... :)
Yeah, nice set, not a Carnival set, but glad I got it...
Oh, and it's been letting me keep my extra POP spells etc. because it's been giving me spell fragments.
Yeah, overall, glad I endured the spire...

Currently though I just have the bare set. But I am looking forward to making it a bit more bulky.

So here I am. I have completed the first level of the spire, having defeated the ugly treant. How mauch time do I have left before the next door opens? Who knows because the spear time is covering the clock.

I see it blocking, but not all the way... I can see how it would be difficult if you just gave it a quick look or if the number was something other than the 5 I'm seeing.

Playing today I had a few encounters where both battles were either all mages and archers, or all mages and heavies. Which made it easy to autofight with all light melee in the first instance, or all mages in the second.
And this was on the second tier.
Maybe it means nothing, or maybe they are trying to make it a bit less painful.
Also got several bonus chests this week.
