The Cauldron only gives you witch points and recipes for each chapter that has ALL the researches completed. You skip even one research in a chapter and you get nothing for that chapter.

Where did you get that from? The intro says Witch Points are based on the number of unlocked techs, but not completed chapters + number of Goblets (which depends on the score you had in last tourney).

ok now...... what never resets, and what doesn't ???
if I try it, and use witch pts, sure those might reset weekly
but does cost for each ingredient never reset ???

Maybee a scrollkeepers post on the basics ??
or can someone just list it in this thread ?

!!Edit: This has been improved on and I can get to 25 ingredients within the weekly allocation, see later posts.!!

There are eight non-diamond ingredients, so without using diamonds, I can maximum use 23 ingredients of out 25 possible, choosing the continually lowest value Witch Points. That uses 6561 Witch points, with the next ingredient costing 878 witch points, taking me to 7439, more than the 7432 I am given with all research complete in Ch20. Whilst that gives a good chance of being successful, it means I've left few points for the studying phase. I am not yet sure what is the better approach, I am guessing we want to improve the potions in the studying effects as that is a permanent effect, thus risking a lower chance of being successful.

anyone got any good fighting spell recipes?
so far it seems pretty random.

How do I increase the likelihood, one or more fighting spells will be activated from my recipe?
Is it the recipe itself that results in more fighting related spells being granted?
Or is there also a way to add spell frags or diamonds to also increase the odds of certain fighting spells being activated over others? Or are the spell frags just for increasing effects?

Any recipe related tips appreciated.

@KAISER S0ZE the addition of spell fragments both increases the maximum effect, and the likelyhood of the maximum effect being applied. Compare left (zero spell frags, 40% max effect, 0% critical effect chance), with right (1000 spell frags, 46.3% max effect, 3.2% critical effect chance).

The percentage chance for each effect increases with each added ingredient, but changes as you mix in other ingredients as they have their own percentage chances. Thus, you'd get the highest chance of single effect if you only apply the ingredient with the highest chance multiple times, but the Witch Point costs increase much more than if mixing ingredients. The diamond costs however stays the same, always 25 diamonds.

Compare; one Ear Truffle, 7.% chance of seeds, 20% success rate, two ear Truffles, 10.6% chance of seeds, 28% success rate.

There are several fighting potions, but for example the Generals Mayhem, which increases Strength of all Barracks Units, has the highest chance of effect using Mana Shells, at 5.5% for the first ingredient. I will post an overview later today.

What is also permanent is the increase in amount of individual goods, coins, supplies, mana, seeds, and orcs you spend to level up the effects. It works just like buying KP and never goes down or resets.

Something else people will need to pay attention to is that the four ingredients that cost diamonds, instead of witch points, rotates each week. So getting a desired effect one week may be free, but getting the same the next week may require diamonds.
 So is this for certain that this part never resets?? o_O I have been trying to find the answer to this all day & I could not find it stated in the Wiki or elsewhere. I must have overlooked.

So each ingredient has a chance to effect the following potions. All values are lvl 1 percentages.
But if what @Lelanya states proves right next week for live worlds, then all this may be for nothing, and you'll need to check each week.
EDIT: Confirming percentages stayed the same for lvl 1 in week 2, and ingredients affect the same potions.

It wouldn't let me post a table, stating it was over 10,000 characters, so you got a picture.

If I look at success rate per cumulative Witch Point, the first ingredient is the cheapest.

Can I have my old quest back? Had a 49.6% chance of getting an effect and after all 5 goblets I had nothing. At least with quests I get something.
it already sounds/feels like a bad form of gambling
This is an accurate statement.

As I said pages ago, and while its not really any different than letting the RNG say you get a PP spell when you wanted an Artifact or DA I believe you get back some spell fragments, correct?

It seems almost that ingredients, the ones , seem
to be rotating either by time, or when I open window.
I've already got 4 different sets...

Using Frags or diamonds , do these reset ???
Weekly perhaps, or each spell maybee ??

Any idea why we have such different % chances?
perhaps because you chose a diamond cost ingredient for your example?

Don't you only get some back if you committed fragments to the critical effect chance? Which I did not. I don't remember getting any back. Just the message informing me of the sad news 5 times. I lack the fragments to be spending the ones I have for whatever chance I'll get some effect and hope it's useful for a few hours. So, sounds like I don't need to worry about the cauldron and I no longer get the quests this is replacing. Wonderful.
