My fellowship has a problem... example ; We've completed the blue path.... half the members say "Don't claim the flag; complete another path first and the rewards are bigger..... the other half say completing another path before claiming the flag gives you more rewards.... a little help here.........please ......

Completing a path and going on to the next stage gives you the rewards for that stage. The only benefit of doing more than one path is ranking points.

Yes, the rewards are the same for each stage of the map whether you do 1 path or all 3 paths.
There are ranking points as Sandstorm says, and the fellowships in your world with the top 25 (or is it 30?) ranking points at the end of the FA will receive some added bonus prizes, and so that is why some fellowships complete more than 1 path per map. Or some just are going for a top 50 ranking score for an achievement, etc.
I was in a fellowship once where the goal for where we ranked was wherever we ranked globally as a fellowship. So, if we were in 57th palace in our world, we strived to achieve a 57th place finish in the FA, etc.
