City total reset?

I'll admit that I go days without logging in.. but I've logged in and suddenly I have a Noob city - like one residence and nothing else. I wasn't level 10,000 or anything but I'd certainly made it far beyond this.. anyone else ever have this issue??? it's irritating enough that I'll probably not play again if I have to start all over
