I have heard from many people that they want so see more group actions in this game. And I am no exception. So here is my idea that I believe could improve the game, give the players what they want, but at the same time keep the positive and friendly gaming environment.
5 to 10 people who are close on the map can form clans and they will have to solve encounters together.
Instead of having 8 encounters like we have now, there can be an additional 9th encounter that will be much more difficult to solve. This 9th encounter would NOT effect the individual progress in discovering provinces( a player who has completed the 8 individual encounters will still get the opportunity to move to the adjacent province and it ill be counted towards the expansion requirements).
Clans will have to solve this 9th encounter after all the members of the clan have scouted that province.
The encounter can be solved by negotiation or fighting. But instead of having one battle or one offer for negotiation there will be multiple.
NOTE: Those encounters are not meant to be resolved in a day or two. They are meant to be a challenge.
So, for example here is how I imagine it:
10 x 5 + 10 x (#players - 5)/2 = total number of battles or negotiation offers
A clan of 5 players will have 50 battles or negotiation offers. But a clan of 10 people will have 75.
WHY? Because if 10 players have 100 encounters there will be incentive for forming smaller clans (5 member clans) due to the requirement that every member has to had scouted that province. With the reducing number of battles or negotiation offers, players do not have the incentive to form smaller clans.
Successfully resolved encounter will result in 5 relics (according to the type of province) and a especial reward for every member in the clan. For example, boosted coin production for 2 days, boosted supplies production for 1 day, instant 1000 planks, etc...
What do you think?
