How do I start getting sentient goods.

Just a tip. Every chapter from this point on, introduces a new type of sentient good and thus you have to have a mfr of the type needed raised to the 24th level. If you wish to save a lot of time you should start building these up in the previous chapter so they are ready to produce when you get to the next chapter.

That link to elvengems is the best, it will get you through the chapter well.
The short answer to your question is, sentient goods can be produced in a level 24 manufactory. Your boosted sentient good will be your regular boosted good +1. So, if you are boosted in steel, you will want to build a planks manufactory to level 24 and begin producing the Tree Gum as your boosted sentient good.
If boosted in marble, build steel
If boosted in Planks, build marble
And the same system applies for tier 2 and 3 of your goods.

The Key steps are:
- Build a factory for your S1 boost and upgrade it to level 24 to make sentient goods (3 and 9 hour sentient productions replace the 24 and 48 hours productions which were there up until level 23).
- Upgrade your Trader so you can see the trades for Sentient.
