How do we use Instants?

I can't use one from inventory for a trial. So how do we use such if its not like the boost scrolls? It don't offer a useon these items anywhere I can see

For the time accelerating ones you can click on any timer where is shows the hourglass, time remaining, and green button. The coins and supplies ones should be able to be activated from within your inventory.
