how to level residence from 15 to 16

when I click on the upgrade button for a level 15 residence I get the"research" button yet i can find nothing in research that will help. Any suggestions?

To upgrade a level 15 residence, you have to unlock "Dwarven Style Residential Buildings" located in the Dwarves chapter 6

You would think that when you click the research button that it would bring you to the specific tech you need to research, sadly the game is poorly designed in what the research button actually does (nothing)
