Hello, Victoire21; I hope you enjoy it here.
As far as a fellowship goes, it is useful to choose the one that's the best fit for you. While you are in game, click on your ranking number (at the upper left of the screen). Then click on the "fellowships" tab. Scroll through a few of the fellowships and check out their "overviews." Make a list of the ones that you think would be a good "fit" for you and that accept new players.
After you have a list of between 5-10 fellowships that you think you might enjoy, go to elvenstats.com and then type each of the fellowships in the upper left hand box (make sure you're clicked on "fellowships" before you type in the search box. When you type in the name of a fellowship, you may get a drop down box. Make sure you click on the name of the fellowship that is in the same world as you play in. Sometimes different worlds have the same fellowship names.
Check out each of the fellowships individually. Look to see if they have a lot of black triangles next to the players' names. Black triangles are bad; it means it's not a very active group and you won't get much help there. Next, check out what "boosts" they need. If they have a whole lot of the same type of goods you make, that won't be a good fit. If they really need your boosts, then that would be great! (You can check to see what boosts you have ... or will have once you progress ... in the main hall in your game. Just click on the main hall and you'll see the goods that are offered. Your boosts will be highlighted in yellow, including the ones you will have eventually. You can also see the boosts highlighted from the dropdown box at the top (in game) but that's sometimes harder to see.)
Whittle down your list to a couple of fellowships that need your boosts and that are active. If tournaments are important to you, you can see how many chests they usually get in tournaments. Once you have made your selections for fellowships, then come back in game and drop the archmages a note. Sometimes, they don't check their page that has applications. But they usually do check their messages, so if you write them a friendly note and tell them you have boosts that they need, they'll probably jump at the chance to have you in their group.
Good luck!
