Pertaining to Portal Profits...

When moving between chapters and with the previous chapters portal remaining, once the first tech is activated in the next chapter, Portal Profits are no longer effective in the previous chapters portal. Is this correct?

Right. As soon as the first research is done, Advanced Scouts or other first tech, you are officially into the next chapter and will have all the pros and cons of being in that chapter, and that includes the portal profits now only being good for the new chapter. You can see this by mousing over or clicking on one in your inventory and it will show the new goods and 0/0 for amounts because you do not have the new portal build yet.
