How does this work?

When you engage the move feature, a little icon appears in the bottom area. If you click on it, all the buildings will flatten out so you can view their footprint. They are color coded - AWs are white, culture is purple, workshops are blue, military are red, factories are pink, portals are green and essential buildings are yellow (Main Hall, Trader, Magic Academy, houses, builder).
Roads will show normally, empty spaces are green, so you can view your city layout. Once you are done click the little icon again and there are your buildings.

I look at it as a Street map view rather than a satellite view.

There is a teleport building spell for that, but it won't work on essential buildings (main hall, trader, etc.)

One thing I love about this (and I do love it), is that your expired building now have their own color -- a sort of dark grey -- and are, therefore, easy to spot. I used to stumble upon them from weeks before and kick myself because there was 4 squares I could have used! Great feature.
