Story quest from Sorc to Halflings

Ok asked this on the other forum but not sure if it was the right spot so I'll ask here too. I just got out of Sorcs and Dragon but dont have enough to move into Halfings yet. I am wondering though if i need to keep all the Sorc stuff to proceed with the story quest or if i can just demolish it all and rearrange my city?
