Walls: A New Class of Building

I have an idea for a new building.

Walls could reinforce whatever buildings they touch. They would be long buildings, 1x11 to maybe 1x18. They could be evolving buildings that grow longer as you evolve them. They could start out 1x4 and each evolution would add a section or 2.

Walls could have a small amount of culture per square. As you evolve the wall it would grow longer and gain a little more culture but it’s real power would come from the buildings it touches.

So let’s say it touches a Mana Sawmill. It would boost its mana production by 5% to 15% and its culture by 5% to 15%. If it touches a manufactory it would boost it’s production. If it touches the barracks it would boost troop production. It could even boost the attributes of the main hall and the builders hut. It could boost other evolving buildings. The number would need to be worked out. Perhaps 5% is too little but maybe 15% is too much.

The wall would not need to connect to a path and buildings could be put on both sides of the wall to get reinforced. If a wall was 1x12 it could reinforce 26 single square buildings. If the buildings were all 2x2 the wall could reinforce 14 buildings. If they were large buildings the wall might only reinforce about 5 to 8 buildings.

This would be fun because if your city needed more mana you could move some mana producers next to the wall.

There could be different events that offer a special wall. Maybe one could be 1x12 and the next event could ofer a different wall that goes in the other direction, 12x1.

They could have names like, The Weeping Prayer Wall, Rampart of Last Resort, or The Great Wall of Zandor.

How would you get around the drawback of walls interfering with roads connecting buildings to main hall?

I agree with Katwick, in general. Instead of just "roads" you could have "elevated roads" of each type -- more costly of course -- able to contribute 1-5 percent (1% per square touching the building?). That way there would be no interference with roads or additional space needed.
