phoenixes have special abilities but they need to have full bellies for them to activate. You can get it as prizes during this months event, or you can produce it in the magic academy.

The first three quests in the current event each dropped one of the buildings into the summonings tab of your inventory

Each building has a different special ability, which is only active when they are fed.

No. You need to evolve it. Feeding only affects the special power

When you get 20 feathers from cashing in essences, you get your first evolve token, then every 40 feathers after that, you get another. When the building is placed, it has an "Evolve" tab, where there is a button that turns green if you have tokens to spend.
