Why do we have to complete NONboosted advanced manufacturies

Why do we have to complete NONboosted advanced manufactures in the tree when we don’t even have any factories of those types?

That is an ENORMOUS waste of KPs for NO reason!

Is this part of the "enjoyment" of the game?

I seem rather sure this has been asked before but i cannot find it.

TIA.

Yup, it's been asked.
Answer was simple, to slow down progress.

But the latest chapter revelation puts it to use. Even if it is much later for many of us.

If there wasn't a need for them, the designers wouldn't have included them in the tech tree.

Every game that includes a tech tree involves techs that you probably won't use. I've never built Orc Warriors or Strategists; some players don't even build the Training Grounds or Mercenary Camp. Its just part of the game. Its not really a big deal.
Just tell yourself that your scientists needed to research those manufactory types to unlock the key to making better Main Halls, or something.

In addition to what Tedious posted above, there are currently two tech trees, Human, and Elven. If they had a separate tree for each of the 27 possible combinations, they'd need 54 different tech trees. And then as soon as someone decided they wanted to build a level 9 Dust Factory, even though they aren't boosted in Dust, they'd need a couple of thousand....

The request is for people who don't want non-boosted factories to not have to research those goods. So they'd need to provide a tree with marble, crystal, elixir required with everything else optional. And another tree with marble, crystal, dust required and everything else optional. And a tree with steel, silk, elixir required and everything else optional, and the others of the 3x3x3 possible combinations of cities (minus the one or two that aren't possible). And then because the trees for elves and humans are different, they'd need to double that. So every possible combination of city boosts for each race would need their own tech graphic and then code would have to keep track of which associated path to allow. Currently, the code just doesn't let you past that point in the tree unless you've learned all the factories.

Aside from which, that was without the inclusion of sentient goods, which means to get into the new chapter, you're going to need previously non-boosted factories for the new T4 (and then T5 and T6) boosts, anyway, so the whole discussion is probably irrelevant.

once you do reach Elementals, you will need to make level 24 T4 buildings.
If you were allowed to skip those techs earlier,

Then in chapter 12 you would be forced to
  • go back and research "advanced T1" in chapter 2, and
  • go back and research "superior T1" in chapter 4, and
  • go back and research "dwarven T1" in chapter 5, and
  • go back and research "woodelf T1" in chapter 9.
Then in chapter 13 you would be forced to
  • go back and research "tier 2" in chapter 2, and
  • go back and research "advanced T2" in chapter 3, and
  • go back and research "superior T2" in chapter 5, and
  • go back and research "fairy T2" in chapter 7, and
  • go back and research "dragon T2" in chapter 10.
Then in chapter 14 you would be forced to
  • go back and research "tier 3" in chapter 3, and
  • go back and research "advanced T3" in chapter 4, and
  • go back and research "superior T3" in chapter 5, and
  • go back and research "goblin T3" in chapter 8, and
  • go back and research "halfling T3" in chapter 11.
I don't think anyone would be happy about having to do that.
Also, players who don't want to be in a FS, or can't find a good one that end up in an inactive part of the map might choose to build non-boosted, and allowing other players to skip techs that those players need would put them at an even greater disadvantage.

In addition to many of the above posts, this game is a game of choices. Just because you don't wish to build those buildings does not mean someone else doesn't. While many people focus on boosted only (efficiency) some people have different aims like aesthetic reasons or a predominately solo approach.

Our choices make our cities unique and hopefully fun to play for us.
