@TedGrau The most you could really hope for is 10 orc nests if you saved all of your essence. My wife and I saved 3,400 each and got 0, 5,6,9,11.
Most cities need 8-10 workshops if average sized and not cycling quests. So if you saved all of your ess, that's 2 workshops you can replace. Maybe 3 if you are lucky. For those in chapter 8+ they give orcs instead of supplies, which does save you supplies, but more importantly (for me) let's you run a city without armories if you get enough of them.Yes, they are great, but not game breaking.

I believe (hope) that with the introduction of Orc Nests, and upgrades to wonders that the developers are trying to give options that come a little closer to the output from quest cycling. In case you don't know what quest cycling is, it's when you decline your normal quest until you get one that gives supplies multiple times every 3h.

Oh Wise One
Yes, they can't be upgraded. However, they are so far above the normal power curve that they set a new bar.
You can already generate more supplies with a dozen level one workshops if you're willing to cycle quests. And no matter how many supplies you produce, the number you can use in a day is limited.

I've sold all my Orc-level armories and am now running my rally points on just the nests alone!! :D

I tried and tried and tried and tried and tried for that Orc's nest...to no avail. I did get a lovely glossy garden I can amble around in. [and that took me about five tries to get!] Thanks Soggy for all you do, this bud's for you...

That is a very nice looking city  What world is that in? I would like to be able to see it a little better and maybe get some organizational tips, if I may?

Thank you :)

That city is actually very well balanced. This is the one city where I do not have to run POP spells for supplies. It's also more organized than people think, you just have to know what you are looking at to see it. ;)

But if you really must see it, it's in Arendyll

@SoggyShorts is the day 30 2 hr window possibly just a place to dump our leftover essences and get egg rewards sans daily reward? did you hear of anyone in beta winning any daily reward short of relics, kp , runes and essence ? curious if i should go all out spending now or save something for a chance of a mystery daily that may not exist.

The Same daily exclusive prize from the previous day will stay available.

Same mistake as Flurry, Couldn't stand to spend my essences on the small buildings, so now I have 8 Father Trees and nowhere to put them....

I don't like the small buildings either. But I never worry about room. At the end of every chapter I'm always moving everything around anyway, so I figure I'll eventually make room for everything.

Most of this is copied over from Beta, (special thanks to Jasper, Dony, Crazywizard, and the rest of the Beta gang)
I have added my "walkthrough" so you will be able to prepare for each quest before they come up.
As it is now, the first 70 quests are known, and it looks like you need at least
  • 10 tier 1 boosted
  • 12 workshops
to start. Around quest #50 you will need
  • 14 Tier 1 boosted
  • 8 workshops(more would be better of course)
One big change from previous events is that the "scout a province" also has the option to "upgrade a building to level 12+" instead, so if you have just unlocked a tech, you might want to hold off on upgrading until then.

I'll be posting the list here, and updating it, I'll also do the online googlesheet so you can make a copy and edit as you go.

Prep List (before the event starts)
Start 2 PoP spells, only collect them when a quest asks for it,
and always queue another one.
set 4 tier 1 boosted to 3h for #20
set 3 tier 1 boosted to 9h for #21
set 2 tier 1 boosted to 1 day for #22
set 1 tier 1 boosted to 2 day for #31
train 60 troops for #19
set 3 workshops to groceries (9h)
set 5 workshops to bread (1h)
set 1 workshops to beverages (5min)
set 2 workshops to simple tools (15min)
set 1 workshop to toolbox (1 day)

@Amara44 I don't know how much of the above is still accurate, as this thread was for LAST year's Phoenix event, not the one going on now. For info on this year's event, check out some of the other, more current threads, or the helpful websites below:
