I have been reading fantasy and playing rpg's for 30+ years. Orcs are often presented in a similar manner. They are usually violent and brutish. Forgotten realms does show them as slaves at times. They also show possibilities and there is a philosophical debate within the Drizzt books. They do tend to eat a lot of shrooms. In Middle Earth, they were created from captured elves that were tortured and twisted by experiments.
I bring this up for this reason. Yes, many people have issues with slavery, I hope. And there are legitimate issues with drug use. However, by ignoring that it exists and being political censors, this can increase the ability for problems to occur again. And this is not about politics, but freedom of speech. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech. However, there are consequences, and a private company such as inno has the right to censor what it will just as people have a right to be unhappy with it.
All that being said, fantasy and sci-fi have been used for many years to highlight many issues within our society that could not be presented and accepted if in a realistic fiction setting. Maybe Inno has a plan for this upcoming. We don't know. I will choose to continue to play optimistically with the hope that the dark issues some have brought to light will be handled in the future. I choose not to cry foul every time something may be interpreted negatively. I think too many people talk past each other. Hopefully we can have honest dialogue here about the gameplay issues.
I know some may not like what I have said, including some I respect here in the forum. I am fine with that. I have issues with the gameplay of the orcs. Let us focus on that as I hope I did in a different thread started by BobbyKitty.
