Why does Solstice Event have to be "luck" based?

what kind of basic psychology is this reasoning thought process imply to you
In many disciplines a greenfield project is one that lacks constraints imposed by prior work. The analogy is to that of construction on greenfield land where there is no need to work within the constraints of existing buildings or infrastructure.

Elvenar is a City Builder, not a Green Field project.

If you're going to build something in ANY city, you're going to need to tear something else down FIRST, or else add on to an existing structure. That's the very nature of the beast.

I've been on a few games where the contests are so luck based it's actually far, far worse than this. Not saying I love the idea of the luck, but if anyone is familiar with a certain avatar website that's been around for a long time, they have RIGs, random item generator, boxes. In those boxes you have a high chance of getting complete garbage, a lower chance of getting something decent, and extremely low chance of getting something pretty, and an outstandingly low chance of getting the 'main' prize, which was typically some sort of pet for your avatar.

The only way to get those boxes was to purchase them with real money. So while a lot of people are upset here, and I understand why, Kat is actually correct. The reason this event has remained random is because it will trigger people's frantic desire to get the prizes, and they'll spend money.

Or, it would do this, if they had balanced it a bit more. Right now, moon splinters are too expensive, there's not enough prize points to go around, and the prizes are on a timer.

Let's say that even if we didn't choose the prizes with our points, you had the regular, silver, and gold chests. Now let's say that all the prizes were in the chests, but you had to split up the chance of getting them and fractured apart that 100% even more.

I think that still would have made people happier. I think it also would increase income for Inno during event times. People are going to complain either way, but I'm just not opening any chests until the crystal unicorn comes around, and after that, I guess I'll just save my points and open everything else on the last day.

Agreed. Plus, if we could save these items and trade them, they would actually become very "valuable". As it is now, they are a cute novelty. I've played games where people could trade things like pillows or other decorating items and some of them traded for the equivalent of hundreds of dollars each....that people had to buy in real game money to obtain. Inno really misses a huge source of revenue by not focusing on decorating items and letting us trade things.

Again on trading culture... I think it would be a wonderful socializing aspect of the game. and this is supposedly a social game... however ....one of my favorite pieces is the prison of the condemned. bought with diamonds... I love it. it give a tiny bit of culture but I simply cannot make me delete it and would not trade it. the graphic detail is so wonderful. that is one of the things I really like about the game... attention to graphic detail. it's wonderful..

She's answering my question: why does this event have to be based on luck? So Bobbykitty can be reminded that she's an unlucky person and thus avoid any temptation to stop by a casino.

same here! If I can't even win a dang little building, I'm for heck sure I couldn't win real money!

It does save me a fortune living in Vegas to never ever gamble because I am so bad at it! But I figure that is lucky. If I ever won I might someday be tempted to put money in slot machines. lol As it is now, I am not even tempted!

True about Vegas. No desire for that here. This morning I woke up to a bunch of moon slivers and opened 3 gold chests and got 2 glossy gardens! Now that is the kind of luck I like! smiles. It is a beautiful piece of culture and also gives population. I hope everyone gets at least one of them!!!

Now that the best non grand prize pop/ culture building is here and people are posting results, I'll share mine, have been saving my moon splinters up until I saw the Glossy Garden even if it appeared on the last day of this event.

Results ...

Glossy Garden x 3
KP x 150
Great Bell Spire Runes x 9
Inspiring Meditation Spell x 30
Magical Manufacturing Spell x 30
Moon Splinters x 140

Was able to complete the first grand prize so add Venars Rock 1 x 1 to the collection. Have 15 moon splinters left over with 280 moon splinters remaining to be obtained from the daily quests. The second grand prize is 50/ 200 complete. I will need to win moon splinters x 200 consecutively 8 times to get the second grand prize.

Ya today is a good day to open chests! The glossy garden, though large, is beautiful and gives a ton of population and culture. You did good Ludwig! I got 2 and am very happy. 3 would be awesome lol.

If only there was land expansions to be won from these chests lol. I do have a fair bit of open land however that has been planned out for the Dwarves chapter, will be used for placing the portal, granite and copper mines. (approximately 8 expansions worth of space) Winning more expansions would have been nice to place my newly won buildings.
