Imagine a neighbour wrote to you and asked you to stop helping them because you don't pay attention to their requested help format. They've never helped you. Probably can't even reach you if you're gauging their city size correctly.

Would you put in the extra effort to get it right for that one city that isn't returning your help? Would you actually try to remember not to help them? Do you respond at all, or just shake your head and move on?

I send out a massive formation of 950 squads of Ax Barbarians to sack the city of the ungrateful wench! In a wedge formation. On each flank, the Barbarians are followed by 600 squads of Priests. Each of these Priest formations is escorted by 400 squads of Orc Strats. Just in case any pesky light melee or light range appear. And there is a reserve formation of 500 Paladins to lead the initial charge through the city gates of the ingrate!

Wait, Elvenar is not that kind of game? I can't send out my massive armies to utterly destroy their city? The absolute worst thing I can do to them is ignore them? Boy, they sure are lucky...

It's all about the phrasing
"Thank you so much for visiting me, but if at all possible could you hit my main hall instead? I could really use the coins."
= yep, I would

vs

"Hey, if you're not going to pay attention to my buff requests, don't come at all"
=apply maximum effort to always getting it wrong going forward forever. Like this guy gets his own sticky note next to my PC

Ha! We think alike on this one!

Yup yup yup, gotta go with Soggy, they make the list.

Also I got a serious flashback to when we used to play 'Hide the Builder', and then put Builder  first in our city name. I used to get the best mail :D Steve won that round, he put his directly behind a level 3 Orc portal.

I'd ignore and move on. I'm not going to waste my time looking at names to see if I should skip them. I don't think they are worth responding to since they have already proven to be a whiner and I wouldn't want to get drawn into a conversation. Though I do like Soggy's and Henroo's fun responses.

Someone in my area did politely ask me to not click the MH. We were already in a conversation about other things, so no problem being asked and trying to be more careful with that city. Doing world visits in the morning I do make more mistakes, but they at least get something and can visit me if I'm in their reach.

btw if i visit people and click to help them i click wherever. it takes too long as it is, and is mindnumbing click scroll etc. i have two cities in Exiles so hundreds of neighbors. no time to read that messaging.
if you are in my FS i may pay more attention, but if you're a neighbor getting help from me or giving help, just take it. help is help.

help is help.
Exactly! My baby city struggled with the early game coin crunch and would love some Main Hall help, but I always laugh in frustration whenever someone polished my builder hut. Like, greeaaaat…you shaved a whopping 30s or a minute off my future build or level 2 upgrade. Thanks! But hey, that is still good for a return visit bonus!

It's been a long time since I got anything like that.
But in the past I would sometimes write back and say something like "sorry I misclicked."
Although I had one person who was rather rude about it. She said something along the same lines as yours, "if you can't do it right don't bother." She was upset because I didn't buff her largest culture building. For a long time after that I made sure I hit the smallest building available.

Ever since Inno made it possible to just visit from notifications, I must admit, I don't waste time looking for their preferences.
I just go by the BCM method.
