Just so you'll know where I'm coming from, a few years ago I bought an XBOX 360, played all of the HALO games and several others, and then gave the whole caboodle to the neighbor kids.
I was also a Guildmaster on WoW for a couple of years, and was a pretty decent raider. BUT that's because I couldn't find any decent City Building games, which I prefer.
There are HUNDREDS of game out there, including Tribal Wars II and Grepolis, that focus on combat. InnoGames dumped Rising Generals. And some of them have very complex strategies and interesting tactics but, at base, if you're not an enthusiastic participant, combat names aren't much fun.
So now InnoGames is trying to develop a game that's focused on the folks who want an aesthetic, well-done City Buildings, and they also have a role-playing game in development. Additional genres will allow them to attract additional players, assuming that they can present an excellent game.
I, for one, am hoping that the developers don't take their eye off of the ball. It would irritate me no end, if the brigands and barbarians were to allowed to burn down my city and steal my stuff. I pay my taxes. In return I expect King InnoGames to keep the hordes at bay and OUT of my hair.
