This is another example of Inno giving an (questionable from the getgo) empowerment on one hand [Ashen Phoenix] and nerfing it with the other [devaluing event scroll currency].
Inno seems to have wholeheartedly embraced the Red Queen Effect ([q.v.] Through the Looking Glass - Carroll).

We had this a few minutes before the event started in Beta.
I think it is intended - and probably a good idea.

OK - so they seem to be doing the same as that little spire deal when it is not active, letting us know how many hours until it starts.
lol - they could have checked the copy though, I am pretty sure they meant to write "Event begins in:"

It was an unintended 'bug'. For the record, though, I liked it (if the time was indeed accurate). It gives me an indication of when to get builds ready.
